Thank you to all you wonderful men (young and older) who still open a door for a lady 🙂 I have no problems pushing or pulling open a door for myself but it’s so refreshing to have it done for me. I promise you I will always smile and say Thank You! Chivalry is not dead. 🙂 —An Appreciative Gal

It’s unfortunate that those manners that seemed to be such standard practices a decade or three ago have fallen to the wayside.
In an age of approaching equality, it should matter not male or female at the door. Whomever arrives first should open it for those immediately behind them. I will take un-gendered politeness over chivalry any day.
yes, there are those that still do this, out of curtisy, but don’t hang on back forever, we have things to do too.

I feel like this is just a common knowledge thing, no? If you are about to close a door, or let go of it and allow it to close, you first take a quick look around to see if anyone is nearby and would benefit from you sticking around a split second longer. We live in Halifax, NS, not freaking NY, NY. We’ve all got more than a couple of seconds to spare, come on, admit it.
I love it when someone doesnt open the door for you. You open the door for yourself and give them a real sarcastic “Thank you so much”. Call them right out on it.
I sometimes open or hold the door for a woman. Isn’t that just polite manners? Well, assuming the woman doesn’t look like a heroin adict or bitch, yeah I am selective on who I hold the door open for.
I sometimes hold the door open for men or women. The gender of the person coming to the door behind you shouldn’t be the determining factor in extending a common courtesy.

I with you on that, Bro Tim. Especially when some self-righteous asshole just struts by like it’s our job to hold the doors.
I agree NGF, I always hold a door, 90% of them stare blankly ahead like its my job (which it’s not). It won’t stop me but it does piss me off sometimes, especially when hearing how men never do it anymore…
