Date: November 14, 2008

Time: 1:03 pm

Location: Corner of Queen and Spring Garden

Who: 3 Fully uniformed On-duty Halifax Police Officers. All over-weight, with BMI’s over 23, one stuffing her face with remnants of some greasy snack.

What: Violation of Section 93(1)(i) of Nova Scotia’s Motor Vehicle Act. (Jaywalking)

Why: The officers, ignoring the flashing red hand, and the amber lights, hurried into Starbucks for emergency coffee! I checked with the Starbucks staff afterward, and they assured me there had been no emergencies all day!!

Rant: Yet another example of our police force’s ever-present “do as we say, not as we do” attitude.

I say, “Fuck you, pigs!”

Peeved Pedestrian (remembering Ben Witte!!)

  1. Yep, and those same fat fucks would have no problem handing out jaywalking tickets.Oh, and lovinglife – shut your fuckin’ piehole.

  2. Why didn’t you report them. You had that much time, to study them, walk up and request their badge numbers, walk to the precient and file a complaint. You failed to do your duty.

  3. funny thing is, its legal to walk into a cross walk when the hand is flashing. but it is illegal to when the hand is solid.

  4. Actually Josh – it IS illegal to walk into a crosswalk with the hand FLASHING – you may only enter with a walk symbol. HRM changed this law some time ago, the same time they made it illegal to drive while talking on a cell phone.

  5. It is OK to walk when the walk light is displayed, provided you have looked both ways to make sure your life won’t end. When the hand starts flashing, you cannot legally enter the intersection, but if you are in the intersection at the time it happens, you are allowed to finish crossing. Once the hand is solid, stay back.Better yet, watch these:http://www.halifax.ca/traffic/CrosswalkSafetyVideos.html
