  1. yeah, you would think they would just buy a truck for every street… and then hire someone who lives on said street to plow it every time it snows….

    fuck…

  2. What really fries my Mars bar is that they don’t have the fuggin’ sidewalks plowed. I walked most of the length of Ochterloney on the actual street, because nothing’s plowed. Ah, the pull of fresh croissants from Two If By Sea. Just like a line of coke, those things.

  3. What I don’t get is that when we get just a hint of snow, the plows are up and down our street every 20 minutes salting and scraping, but when there’s 30cm of it NO FUCKING PLOWS IN SIGHT!! WTF!!!

Perhaps there’s too much buffer between the blade and the asphalt so you can’t create as many potholes per pass in order to collect kickbacks from the paving company your brother owns??? Hmmmm

  4. We were plowed out before first light I heard them go by. By 7am when I went outside, they had gone by again & even the shoulders of the road were clear.
BUT WHERE’S THE DAMN MAIL ?????
    THat’s it, I’m writing a Bitch !

  5. LOL More, I’m a little jealous.

I’m the bitcher, I’ll admit it, and we did not get that same quality of plowing(?). The first plow didn’t even come down our street till about 2 or 3 in the afternoon, and the street was bad.

    Fail.

    O well, it’s plowed now: )

  6. I don’t know what you’d call our road 1fallingangel1.
Its not a secondary road, cause we turn off that & travel down this road to another road that I live on, which will lead you into the Musquodoboit Valley (eventually) but yeah , they’ve got the whole area even the dirt roads out here plowed .

  7. It’s much easier, and safer, for a driver to plow the same streets over and over than to actually move big piles of snow!

Actually moving snow has too many risks. You hits parked cars, you run over kids, you get complaints…whereas if you just run up and down the already cleared streets, well into the night…you get paid the same and it’s easier!

  8. I’d always assumed Willett was a main street in this city but apparently not. The sidewalk beyond the bus terminal was impassable this afternoon due to plows pushing snow into it. Completely ridiculous, considering the the height of the storm had long since passed. Sidewalk on the opposite side of the street still isn’t cleared and it’s almost 7pm. Just a small narrow path to the bus shelter that the city obviously didn’t dig.

  9. where the fuck do you live, under a rock, it has been snowing all day. and these guys have been going all night on the major routes. i talked to a bunch of guys i know, and they have been going since shortly after it started, and haven’t even had a break in over 12 fucking hours.give them a chance, everything just about was/is closed anyway today.

  10. Parkland’s sidewalks are *still* not plowed.

I think HRM is taking their snow removal direction from St John’s — they never plow sidewalks and everyone has to walk on the roads.

This that really gets me though is, this wasn’t a surprise storm. The weather report has been predicting this storm for days…so what gives HRM? The people I saw walking on the streets today should NOT have had to do that — little kids and seniors…some looked pretty frail.

  11. Also, I would like to send some love (yeah I know wrong forum, but same topic so suck it, haterz!) to the bus driver I had this evening coming home who made a special stop for an older lady at the bottom of her street and for me at the driveway entrance of my building. You are beyond awesome!

  12. One of the reasons I left Parkland for the south end…. That and the fact that, at the time, the no 16 didn`t run on weekends. Nothing like having to get to work on a Saturday and Sunday, having to walk 20 min before even being able to reach the bus stop…. stupid Parkland……

  13. jonnoman — I don’t live really far into parkland; really close to lacewood and I’ve never had a problem with the sidewalks, at least in front of my building, being cleared even before I would leave around 11am…they just dropped the ball this time.

  14. I miss hali/dart !! Atleast they sooner or later plow the road . In calgary , they DO NOT plow the side roads or sidewalks . Only reason they had to once this year is because we had 3 feet of snow and people actually got stuck in there area ( NW) for three days . Not to mention the five houses that burned to the ground because the Fire Dept couldn’t get near it.

Check that and see what they Don’t clear here .
