I’m getting worried. There is a good possibility that my theological school faculty will strike. Why can’t the admin and staff agree? The reconciliation has failed. It took me 3 years to get this Master’s degree. I want to graduate this year and get ordained. I’ve worked hard to get here. This is my career and my life calling that could potentially get messed up. I thought it was easy once I got to this stage. I did all the school work, got the job experience, etc. I even have a job lined up. —Already exprienced one other strike before

Crossed fingers for you Op, but if these problems are just developing, unless the fly out of control, I can’t see you experiencnig a strike pre-june.

The same thing happened my graduating year at Acadia — there WAS a strike, but it only lasted two or three weeks and everyone managed to graduate on time! So it might not be worst case scenerio!
FA’s right too — the strike at acadia only happened after almost a year of negotiation. The breakdown happened in October-ish 2003 and the strike only happened the week after Spring Break in February 2004.

Yep.. same thing happened to me when I went to CBU in the winter of 2000. We were off for a month and midterms were canceled. By the time we finally got back profs had to cram a couple months’ worth of work into a couple of weeks. Assignments were missed and everyone certainly felt that they missed out on their education that semester. You guys were “lucky” at Acadia, PK. Sometimes things don’t get resolved that quickly and just drag on until everyone loses out.
That said, OP.. I certainly hope things get resolved for you and your schoolmates. One interesting question though- would this “mess up” your life-calling or simply cause it to change directions?

We had to cram things into a few weeks too — I will admit it DID suck because I was taking my all time favorite seminar course at the time and the prof had to cut out the end part of the course, which was what I was particularly interested in and hoped to do a thesis on 🙁 boo.
at this point in time o.p., it is only a theorey, that they will strike. and even if they do, you have the chance to have some of divine intervention take over.

That sucks OP, I know what it’s like to screwed over by incompetent school staff/admin. Just keep pushing for it. Hopefully the worst this will do is delay your grad. There’s no reason for it to mess up a your future career in the long run if you persevere.
And if that job you have is in the bag for sure, it can’t hurt to tell your future employers about your situation. I imagine they’d be sympathetic towards something out of your control, even if they can’t employ you right away because of it. Keep contact.

NGF- it’s funny you mention “Redman” and Eskasoni in the same phrase. When I was in Grade 12 a bunch of natives from Eskasoni wanted to kick my ass because they actually thought I was a Riverview Redman. Not sure where they got the idea although I played hockey with quite a few of them and seemed to have a good relationship with them.
The really funny thing was that there were actually a couple of guys from Eskasoni ON the Redman. You’d think they would start with trying to kick their asses.
