With an extra digit added to tuition fees since I attended university 20 years ago I can sympathize with the debt-load students now face.
What I can’t understand is the total lack of respect many (not all) of these students have for those that subsidize their education. A little party and associated noise is tolerable. Marching about late night on weekends hooping and hollering is not. Having to step around puddles of urine to get into your car the following morning is beyond belief. I had to do this yesterday and will have to do it yet again this morning.
To the party hosts on Edward St. – as a courtesy we didn’t initiate a fine. Please respect that this block is not a student ghetto and sidewalk parties or otherwise will not be tolerated nor will your guests urinating in our driveway. From your gesticulations to the officers who responded you didn’t think you did anything wrong and from the fact that you continued to carry on on your deck it didn’t sink in.
Yes you are students who don’t have to get up in the morning. Your neighbours do and guess what your neighbours are the ones who subsidize your education! Should we subsidize you more – let your behaviour dictate it.

And those same students will have to subsidize the education of others once they become tax payers. So, I think it makes things pretty even, so stfu already.
I’m so sick of all students getting dumped on because of a few that choose to act like fucktards. Your tax dollars also subsidize public school, but I don’t see you bitching about the little fucktard brats who’s parents let them loose or those under 18 who break bus shelters and swarm people, and shoplift, etc….
At least students put some sort of economic renewal into the city. I’m pretty sure kids and teens don’t have the disposable income your average university student has. Halifax would sure be in fine economic shape if all the universities closed *eyeroll*
Don’t bitch us all out because of a few bad apples. Throughout my time in uni I’ve held down part time jobs and I can count on two hands the number of times I’ve gone out and gotten drunk/partied. And there are lots more like me so fuck you and your little dog too.
You said it all Pretty Kitty.
