IT support is such shit work. I feel your pain. Having to explain rocket science to cereal boxes day in and day out makes LTWWB a wonderful place to hang. Get into the development end of IT and your life will improve immensely.

No I posted a random agreement bitch follow up and it disappeared. It was pretty non relevent anyway.
I worked a bit of IT help at a call centre once, it amazed me how many people didn’t understand what an email address even was. They were constantly trying to put them into their address bars with no success.
Kay, support isn’t all that bad, dev work isn’t everyone’s bag… so long as you’re only dealing with people within the company, supporting internal apps and such can while away the hours.
The problem comes when your hotline number is publicized to the general public… ala call centre. at least the people working at the company know a bit about tech, or at least they should… AND they have a manager you can complain to when they spout off for no apparent reason.
hahahaa my dad keeps trying to send an email to http://cbc.ca – one time he tried to send one to “email us at halifax at cbc.ca” Sigh.
I hear you ustwess…my dad could build all the circuitry for a computer and explain how it works, but faced with email his brain leaves town. The most painful experiences are always when he wants me to talk him through a process on the phone. More than once I’ve concluded that taking the time to drive to his house and fix the problem and drive back is simply faster. And I’ve been proved right more than once, lol.
if you’re both subject to windows, start –> help and support –> remote assistance.
much more helpful as he can give you control and watch you do it for him without the drive.
