Last night I watched an intelligent, articulate and interesting woman break down because of something posted by a ‘friend’ to her phacebook. Last week I heard two people having a very heated argument because of an ‘unfriend’. Wake up people and deactivate your phacebook-mind-fuck-profile and rinse the brainwashing right out. —Rinse and Repeat

  1. for fuck’s sake, it’s only facebook. if people are that thin skinned, then they ought to stay the fuck off it. jesus christ, doesn’t anyone have any fucking backbone anymore?
this is not a school ground, and we are sposed to be adult enough to handle orselves, but i guess some people aren’t. or are we talking about a tween, who should not be on there anyway? the age minimum is 13 people.
it says right in the fucking rules and regs., if you are younger, then you have no business being there, just like skype, myspace, and other older persons sites.
next we’ll be hearing how some 10 year old was lured by someone on plenty of fish, or other sites such as that. give it the fuck up, and let them fight their own shit. can’t take the heat, then stay the fuck out of the kitchen people. bring on a bitch that has more sense to it, fuck facebook bitches.

  2. Phacebook Phools Phall Phor the Phallacy that their Phortunes are Phascinating Pheatures of Phate. They can Phuck right oPHPH!

  3. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

My father knows how to use youtube now. If HE can actually manage to turn a computer ON let alone use youtube, anyone can.

    Trust me. ANYONE.

  4. The technology isn’t the problem, we are. If people used things the way they were intended to be used shit wouldn’t be so out of hand. No one thought people would actually spend this much time and energy on Facebook. I thought the whole techno craze would die much sooner than this, personally but it looks to be here to stay. Without Facebook these people OB speaks of would probably find some other way to dramatize their life.

  5. PK, I just showed my dad how to download torrents last month, he’s probably gotten hundreds of movies and shit since then lol. It’s the point where it’s not hard to figure shit out anymore, it’s much harder to put it the fuck down and concentrate on real life.. I’m convinced we’ll be living in a Matrix like world sooner or later. How far are we really when so many of us are glued to mobile devices and computers most of the time?

  6. Not to worry Painey; when the apocalypse comes, us oldsters who still know cursive script will be revered for our storytelling abilities:

“Oooooooh! The wise one has the power to draw sounds in the dirt”
“BLASPHEMY! WITCHCRAFT! DEATH TO THE WISE ONE!”

Okay, maybe it’ll be best for us to die in the first exchange of warheads.

“Wise one. Why are you putting your head between your legs?”
“So I can kiss my sweet ass goodbye, Junior. LOL”
    >; )

  7. really painy, show me sometime, and ivan, us hunter/gatherers will be very useful in feeding the tribes of remaiing mutant zombies.

  8. I’m with you & Painy, L.S.

I’ve got a friend who’s just started beekeeping, I’ve given them access to my woodworking shop to make up some of the things they need to expand their hives….before the appocalypse hits I gotta learn how to make mead ~:)

  9. I think it’s time for someone to wake up and reassess their lives. FB is part of society now….. and it’s not just a minor piece either. Everything from CBC to MTV to CNN invite you to go to their shows’ FB page……. it’s how you wish people well on their birthdays… it’s how you share pictures with friends and loved ones and it is now part of how you define yourself.

It’s not “only” FB….. so anything said and recorded to the storage space within the farms of Zuckerberg are considered as legit as if they were spoken directly from the mouth.

  10. OP, I hope you got her on video when she broke down. That would be hilarious. Post it to YouTube as “Crying Bitch” next to the “Talking Dog” … they’re the same.

  11. The fact that people are taking FB so seriously (ooooh someone defriends you and you get into an argument about it? come the fuck on!) is just sad and says A LOT about how, if we keep going the way we are, humanity is going to become one big blob of social retards.

When i started university in 2000 we all had laptops because of the school I went to and looking back I can definitely see how they fucked up a lot of our social interactions. I’d be sitting side-by-side with a friend in the library, on the noisey floor and instead of actually talking, we’d be ICQ-ing back and forth — EVERYONE was doing it. And whenever I went to parties everyone had their fucking laptops with them and was talking back and forth. I even saw this one guy walking down the hill towards town with his laptop on his shoulder like a boom box blasting his tunes he downloaded off of direct connect. Replace laptop with a blackberry or an iphone and you’ve got the exact same thing going on.

It’s sickening to think that eventually, no one’s going to know how to have an actual fucking face-to-face conversation wtih someone. It’s scary too: think of it this way — my online conversations and interactions with friends that I’ve known for years always have a different ‘feel’ than the in personal conversations. Mainly because in person conversations have that element of body language that you don’t get online. Thing *is* it’s a VERY important skill to be able to read non-verbal communication cues…. and by focusing SOOO much on the online comms, you’re really going to have subsequent generations who don’t know how to process non verbal communications, which could have some potentially serious consequences.

In any event, I don’t tend to give two shits who has me on their friends list, who doesn’t and who deletes me. The people who matter are on there and always will be and the people who matter to me will never delete me. 🙂 The rest of y’all can bite me. 🙂

  12. And just as an example — my best friend (not NGF — the other one) is getting married on Saturday. I’m her Maid of Honour. She’s been a big ball of stress over the entire thing and it’s caused some definite tention between me and her and her and the other bridesmaid. On more than one occasion I’ve left msn/fb conversations with her completely frustrated and one time pissed the fuck off.

The SAME issues will come up when we’re together in person, and for some reason they just don’t seem like frustratingly big deals. I get her side and she gets mine and it’s all because of all of those non verbal communication cues we both pick up on. I saw her on Sunday at her wedding shower and it was the most settled time I’ve spent with her in a long time and I’m really looking forward to Friday’s rehearsal, then our mini girl’s night in my room at the hotel, the “getting ready” on Saturday morning, the reception sat night and breakfast/gift opening on Sunday. Before, I was looking forward to it… but didn’t really feel involved, y’know?

It’s the same with NGF too — we fight all the time over FB chat/msn…. but when we get together in person it’s quite different. It’s like all the conflict and tension melts away and he’s no longer Tubz the jerk (not always when we talk, but sometimes) he’s Tubz the awesome bff. (Tubz is what I call him irl. He calls me Fatz).
