What gives you, a 50-year-old man with a smart phone, the right to film 40 women dancing at an outdoor zumba class in a park? You never asked any of us women, you just filmed until I told you to stop. What gives you the privilege to film women for your delectation without a thought to our privacy? —I wanna dance

  1. Delectation. Now, there is a word not often used in a bitch. Learn something new here every day.

  2. Delectation aside, it is perfectly legal to film others in an outdoor setting. If you want privacy, you don’t get that in a public, outdoor space. I imagine he found it amusing and wanted to capture it. How is this so confusing for you?

  3. They find it very creepy and unnerving Charlie, as they should. How is this so confusing for you?

  4. Want privacy these days of cameras everywhere? Then find a private indoor space Otherwise you could be fair game to turn up on Youtube, FB or other social media sites, or in someone’s collection of odd films.

  5. Wondering if this bitch would be here if it wasn’t a man doing the filming?

  6. What would have happened if the filmer had been a 50 yr. old female?

There wouldn’t have been a bitch, right?

  7. The right to privacy does not extend to activities conducted in a public space and the presumption of privacy needs to be balanced against the environment in which your activities are conducted. Public and private are antonyms.
Although creepy, there is no invasion of privacy in this situation.

  8. Yea taking the bitch literally, perhaps he does have a right to video tape it. I’m not taking the commentator’s word for it, I don’t really know what the law is.

It is still creepy as fuck and not acceptable behaviour, which is the spirit of the bitch, IMO.

To the “would this bitch happen if it were a woman filming?” people: Would you have the same reaction if it was anyone filming your kids at a beach?

  9. The post isn’t about filming children, and yes I believe the reaction would be different if it was a woman filming a group of children verses a man. For the record I don’t have kids myself.

  10. With this post there also seems to be the automatic assumption that he’s filming the class for some sexual reason. Why is that?

  11. I’m with Non-Guilty on this one. Not all males think about sex when filming an event – for all you know, he could be doing it for a partner who might be interested in zumba – also seems foolhardy to think women aren’t capable of sexual predator crimes (which this instance is NOT) – case in point: a certain Nova Scotian female school marm who thought nothing of t-boning boys who had barely spouted their first pubes.

  12. Illegal? No. Creepy/weird even if not for sexual purposes? A little bit. If someone was filming me doing something (anything), even though they have the right to film in public, I wouldn’t like it.

  13. I agree it does sound a little creepy. However, nowadays you can’t go anywhere without seeing people with their smart phone cameras out and pointed them at just about everything. I think it’s a little naive to expect that forty people exercising in public won’t attract all sorts of attention …. and cameras …. so the demand for “privacy” while doing something that will attract attention in a public place may be just a touch unrealistic.

  14. Here’s how to film other people in public without looking like a creep:

Step 1 – Ask them if you can. If Yes, go to Step 2. If No, go to Step 3.
Step 2 – Film whatever you got permission for and thank whoever gave you permission.
    Step 3 – Don’t film.

I’d agree that if it was a female, the chances of looking like a creep are much less. This should not change the above procedure.

  15. I suggest if you are not seeking to attract attention and insist on dancing in groups of 40 or more, seek out private property………
    WTF is ‘Zoombaaa’ anyway?

  16. Am I the only one that doesn’t understand the logic in this?!
How can privacy and public park refer to the same thing?!
