The UK will not renew passports for citizens living outside the country. Ottawa has some type of agreement, and the Canadian consulate will not renew it, even though he’s a permanent resident. He has to pay 300 USD and send it to fucking WASHINGTON D.C., which isn’t even in a Commonwealth country, to get it processed by the Americans.

In Halifax, when a cruise ship is in the port of Halifax , The Ports have to do security by US Coast Guard rules. IF they do not go by the rules of the United States…the ship will not be allowed to leave Canada & go to the USA. Even if it is a US registered ship…no security provided according to USA homeland security standards, & the cruise boats will no longer come 😉

If he immigrated, why didn’t he renew his passport then. Anyways, he can get the appropriate forms from the UK, fill it out and return it. Six months should be more than plenty of time.
Permanent resident is not a citizen either. The ‘Commonwealth’ has nothing to do with it.

That makes absolutely no sense that he’d have to go through the states to get his passport renewed….I’m pretty sure the US disassociated themselves with the English back in 1776 pretty hardcore….no reason that couldn’t be processed in a commonwealth country.

It’s all true; a client of mine had to go through that entire process, however, it’s processed through Ottawa and the passports come through the US…

I’m a citizen now, and have no problems renewing my passport anyway.
I’ve also renewed mine and it didn’t take long. Maybe you can be like that quiff detained in Kenya and sue us for $2.5 M but NOT for the money, fucking right…

Actually Kay, she was detained for almost three months. Not that that justifies the situation, but it’s a lot different than four years.
