I just have to say how extremely disappointed and upset I was on Canada Day to return to my car to find a ticket! I was on the Dartmouth side enjoying the music and fireworks. I was parked for the better part of three hours, only to find the ticket written at 10:03pm…exactly three minutes after the fireworks ended and two minutes before I reached my car!
Really??? C’mon! a) It’s a holiday! b) I may have been parked in a no parking area, BUT I was not obstructing anyone or anything else c) There were tons of other cars parked in no park zones.
HRM…if you want people to come out and enjoy the holiday celebrations, something needs to be done. Clearly there is NOT sufficient parking to accommodate the entire population of HRM. So, give people a break on the holiday (at the very least!) and stop ticketing harmlessly parked cars OR get off the pot already and do something about increasing/changing public transit!
I hope my ticket payment and tax dollars were put to good use. Is that what you do? Ticket the public to fund the holiday fireworks? If that’s the case…you better issue some more tickets next time. The fireworks were quite uninspiring and very lacklustre! —A Pissed Citizen

It was a no parking zone, so you should really have seen that one coming. I understand the downtown parking situation sucks in the HRM, but you can’t blame someone for doing their job, holiday or not.
No, they ticket dumbass fist-shaking milquetoasts who park in no parking areas.
Silly twat – You fund our impressive selection of open-air concert acts on the Commons. It’s bike-riding sidewalk jockeys who fund the fireworks. Lesson in civics anyone?
1) you parked in a no parking zone. 2) you know parking during big events sucks, take the bus 3) Do what I did, don’t go!
It said “no parking”, you parked there. You took a calculated risk, you lost. That just about cover it?
You can be pissed all you want there OB, but you did park in a no parking zone. Holiday or no Holiday.
I say your pretty lucky you didn’t get towed, being that you saw fit to park in a non parking spot. Idiot!
Personally, I think the law should relax a little when it’s hot as balls outside, and let people roam the streets butt nekked. Sadly, the don’t see things my way. My point is, the law is the law and NO parking means NO parking!
If i remember correctly the fireworks ended later than 10, i don’t even think they had started then. eitherway, Holiday or not, no parking is no parking.
Car assholes think they can put their cars wherever they want, talk about entitlement. Get over yourself, walk or take the bus.
GUILTY!!!
Oh my god I broke the law and got caught boo fucking hoo, you’re not above the law. Who do you think you are Lindsay Lohan?
Mindsnap got me so debilitated (which I was certainly not opposed to) I forgot about the fireworks until I was almost back home… via loser cruiser.
Much to my delight… I didn’t get a parking ticket!
What a novel idea.
how is our sweet little wrist breaker?
