Let me start by saying that I am not an entitled, drive-everywhere car-owner. I walk, bike and take transit most of the time. I have a run-down old beater, basically for weekend use to enjoy the outdoors (and yes, for now it’s cheaper than CarShare). So the winter parking ban is a pain for me, but I get it, and I – responsibly – negotiated to rent your parking spot long before the snow flew. We shook on it. I’ve rented that spot in previous winters. I go to pay you at the beginning of December, and you’ve rented it out from under me without even letting me know? Fuck you. It’s too late in the season for me to find anything even remotely affordable or close to our neighbourhood. I just spent several nights this week and my entire Sunday afternoon desperately looking, to no avail (and frequently being laughed at for looking for a parking spot during the first snowstorm of the year – like *I* was the irresponsible one!). You stoned assholes need to grow the fuck up and learn some respect. Thanks for fucking me over.

nothing on paper? I know handshakes used to be the norm but come on….
get the signature and save yourself this hassle next time…
I’ve got a handshake deal for the firewood I buy every year. This guy (& his family) selectively cut their 1000 plus acre wood lot for their own use & have enough to sell to about 6 other people.-Which has an advance planning component to it, because the wood I’m burning this year was cut 2 years ago, & the wood for next year is out at the wood lot, cut & spit ‘drying’ I’m one of the lucky ones.
The way I see this problem, of yours, of a bad handshake deal…is your not dealing with someone who has real integrity. Dealing with someone like this…chances are they’d just back out of a ‘paper’ deal as well. they might have to give ou some notice…but you’d still be screwed.
If this guy was offered more money for the space he is entitled to take the higher offer if no contract had been signed, he is under no obligation to take a lower price for something he owns
However, he SHOULD have given you the right of first refusal to either match the better offer or beat it……and not just sell it out from under you with no notice and leave you stranded. especially given the fact you two had a pre-existing agreement. Thats a pretty dick move thing to do.
Depending on where you are, try Southpoint on Victoria Rd. They have plenty of underground parking.
WAKE THE FUCK UP!
I don’t know who’s more screwed. Potheads who chase the almighty dollar or you. The person who deals with said potheads on a handshake basis and expect them – of all people – to learn some respect.
Logic team to transporter room. Beam me up. There’s no intelligent life on this planet.
