  1. Should ban parking everywhere in the city that the vehicle takes up any of the driving lane while they are banning parking.

  2. There are a lot of people that just do think. It amazes me how they can even survive on their own.It is a good thing for them that some of the bodies essential systems are Autonomic.

  3. They were out towing cars on my street this morning when I was leaving for work. It will be interesting to see if they actually plow the street after towing the cars, because I don’t think it was plowed even once last year.

  4. Being the only city in North America to have a steady and total winter parking ban in place and an enforcer looking to ticket and tow your car on a snow-free day (day 1 of the ban – no snow, lots of tickets) who ASKS NOBODY and ANSWERS TO NOBODY says an awful lot about this DRACONIAN town! I wanna get a look at the guy in charge. I’ll bet he was born with the required driving mentality for his job in 19-fucking-50.This must be the same person who thought NOT to time the downtown traffic signals to ensure to a no-stop pass through the downtown area while driving at the posted 50 km/hr (if you’re scratching you’re head consider yourself painfully Haligonian)This is right up there with the ‘brilliance’ employed in the “solution” to the “problem” with Cobequid Pass. Imagine what would happen in Central BC if the solution to the problems in having to steadily remove snow from well traveled highways with two or more fair-steep and long hills on them was to simply invest in a couple of sign and close the fucker… OMG!!!! Entirely unacceptable! FYI The snow plow and the city and the region knew the storm was coming well in advance yet nobody saw a snowplow until at least a foot of snow covered the highway and then there were only a couple of plows working and not together… and WE PAY these people with our tax dollars to hold the position of management that would see our highways open, not closed!Halifax is NOT exceptional in North America when it comes to snow on highways yet has the most driver / tax-payer unfriendly policy in the whole of the land. What is wrong with you people? Fuck you OP and fuck you HRM. GROW UP!

  5. Obviously Kay has spent countless hours looking up the by laws of EVERY OTHER CITY IN NORTH AMERICAN LIKE OMG!The ban is nothing new. It’s been in place for decades. Deal with it. I’ve said it before: if you can’t afford to park it lawfully (renting a space or what have you) you can’t afford the car, really. Jesus christ people.

  6. Actually, I was quoting last nights news when I talked winter parking bans in North American cities, not inventing facts as I go.Toronto gets a lot more snow… they have a practice of alternating the side of the street one can park on.Telling me I can’t afford to drive if I can’t afford an additional parking spot for the winter months is crazy! Whether I can afford it or not this is an expense the parking authority should not be putting onto the people they’re paid to service. Where’s the middle ground? A blanketing law saying no parking anywhere for half the year is no solution, no compromise and simply no good.

  7. Most people don’t move their cars, because they’re too lazy. I can’t understand what the problem is with winter parking. There should be no need of a ban at all. You people should just KNOW to move your damn car when it’s gonna snow. And alternating the side of the rd you park on, as they do in TO, would be fine, except we’re in Halifax, and the people would still park on both sides, because someone would be too lazy to cross the fucking street. I see it all the time, the snow has nothing to do with it. Ask a fucking neighbour to use their driveway if there is room for christs sake. Offer to help them shovel it out in return…not a bad idea either, you’d be helping your neighbour and he/she’d be helping you. I don’t think the real problem is the snow or the parking ban, it’s the people around here. No one wants to be inconvienced, but they have no problem doing it to someone else. All you have to do is think once in a while.
