Earlier today I went to the nearby corner store to grab a pack of smokes, which is nothing out of the ordinary, but today things took a turn towards “WHAT THE FUCK?!”
As I approached said store, there was a baby stroller outside, left unattended, with the CHILD INSIDE OF THE STROLLER! I do not have kids myself, and I don’t know much about them, but I’m pretty sure it is NOT right to leave an infant outside in a stroller while it is cold and raining while the mother is in said store buying what she wants…
I wish I knew more about this young lady so I could call Child Services on her. —Mind Snap

  1. I think calling child services once in a while is fine, but you just called them on the previous bitch. Our taxes are going to go up if you keep using these services. Just approach the adult yourself and give them a piece of your mind.
Everyone bitches about our taxes and then use all the services that are provided us with said tax money.
    Hypocrisy at its best.

  2. This is actually a common practice in many European and Scandinavian countries. They leave the babies out in strollers and go to restaurants, or shop then get there babies on the way out. So the only thing wrong with this scenario is that there are people that would actually take a baby

  3. Standard practice in Spryfield and Highfield Park. They hope someone will steal their kid and pawn the stroller on Kijiji so that they will have more money for drugs.

  4. I would have called the police right then and there, and stayed with the child until they got there. I hope that parent loses their child. That is how children get stolen and hurt/assaulted.
My friends recently turned their heads for two seconds and their little boy is now in a coma from 3rd degree burns from a bonfire.
Parents dont understand that it only takes less than a second for a child to get hurt or taken. There are children who have been stolen from their own beds while the parents were doing the dishes.
If you dont care enoug habout your child to care for them, put them up for adoption and give them to someone who wants them and will truly love them.

  5. If Not For You: That actually wasn’t me, but I did find it quirky that it go posted right before me… I always sign off my bitches with my user name. Nice try though :p

  6. It was left outside as takeaway for some welfare ho who only had 9 kids to take, and anyone with any knowledge knows that if you have 10 little bastards you get more benefits.

  7. I wonder if it was the same guy who left his two kids in the car when he went into the gas station? See “mind Your Own”

  8. If not for you,
I would of called child services and I don’t give a flying fuck that it cost you taxes !
A childs life is in jepperty !

Sick ppl kidnap babys thats a fact !

  9. She was probably trying to buy smokes too – it’s against the law to bring your baby to a tobacconist – the government thinks you are better off leaving them on the street than exposing them to the evils of tobacco…

  10. HairyJuice, how often does this happen, your child has a better chance of getting hit by lightning than be kidnapped. What you are suggesting as a fact happens to less than 1 in a million children (or something like that) Read free range kids for the statistics) it would be more likely that the kid gets run down by a car while being walked by the parent, so would you then suggest that since that can, but is not likely to happen, that you keep your child in a padded room inside 24/7?

  11. Dartmouthy: It was a convience store, not a smoke shiop

Everyone else: I wasn’t really pissed off about the child being left alone, but it was on Saturday when the weather was cold and wet. That’s what mainly irked me, the fact that an infant was left with no supervison jus adds salt to the wounds

  12. I think I would have called the police right then and there. Or, I would have gone into the store looking for said ‘responsible parent’ and given them a piece of my mind. That may not have gone over too well though… so calling the cops would have been the best option.

As for the bitch above regarding how much it costs re: Child Services…. What the hell do you think Child Services are there for??? As adults, parents, god parents, and families of children we are suppose to act in their best interest – ensuring that they are well taken care of, safe, etc. If we simply walk by an infant, alone, outside in a stroller, in wet windy miserable weather, we are not fulfilling our responsibilities to these innocent children.

Mind Snap – if you had of read the paper the next day and saw that an infant left unattended in a stoller was harmed by rolling into the street or was kidnapped, how would you have felt?

  13. Jesus, Jibber Jabber, I really hope your friend’s child will be alright! It happened to my sister’s friend; she turned her head for a second and her 8 month old baby girl reached for the cup of hot tea on a coffee table, knocked it down and was severely burned as a result; 2nd and 3rd degree over 30% of her body. The doctors send her home in a “body bandage” after 2 weeks in the hospital. She’s fine now and it looks like she won’t even scar.
And speaking about burns again, my husband’s 42 year old sister was burned in a house fire last October; it was mainly her legs and hands that got the worst of it but over 40% of her body was 3rd degree. Despite already being ill with Hepatitus C, she survived and is now living in rehab. So i’m REALLY hoping your friend’s baby will be alright; and that her youth and health will work in her favor during recovery. Wishing your friends the very best; I cant imagine how they must feel right now. 🙁

  14. …and btw, I would have done the same thing as you if I saw that baby left alone outside the shop!

  15. I’m with informant. In many european countries, such as Iceland, it is socially acceptable to leave a baby in a stroller outside of a busy cafe or shop for 15-20 minutes while you grab a drink or something.

Most parents I encounter coddle their children to the point of ridiculousness. OP should mind their own business.
