Hopefully the level of anxiety I cause you will equal the level of frustration I feel following your stupid “Mobile Speed Bump” down a fucking deserted “highway” (ie Prospect Road, Kearney Lake etc). That’s what we do with asphalt speed bumps….well, some of us drive around them… but you get the point. Mobile Speed Bump is one of the dumbest ideas I have ever heard. I would bet one of the more dangerous ideas too. Get more police out there. Police are and Highway Safety are the only ones that should be Policing speed issues. And more tickets for stupid drivers. Encourage Road Rage, yes it does..I am getting pissed-off right now.
I drive the speed limit. If it says 70, that’s what I set the cruise control at. If you don’t like it, you can kiss my rosey red arse. However, I will not slap on a yellow sticker to become a target for people who can’t drive reasonably or have anger issues. As a driver of many decades, I am appalled by the impatience and just plain bad driving on the part of many HRMers. I will not speed up to accommodate some foaming-at-the-mouth driver who wants to get the fuck home 3 seconds earlier so suck it up.

On a highway, you’re correct, keep to the right. On a city street with multiple lanes of traffic (i.e. Main St in Dartmouth, Robie St, etc), I will stay in the lane that I need to be in depending on where I need to exit to. As previously stated, I will be driving the speed limit so if this bothers the speeders, this is not my intention but on the other hand, I will not be moving aside just to let someone speed.
BRoc – I remember when I did my driving test, the only point I lost was for staying in the left lane when I knew a left turn was going to be the next part of the test. Legally, i was expected to keep right until approaching the intersection. Sounds dumb to me too, but the law doesn’t just apply to the highway.
TTFN- the reason why somedays it takes 15 minutes to get to my place of work and other days it takes 30 (and just to spell it out for everyone, I leave to and from work *at the same time* M-F) is because of stupid twats who dont realize/ don’t care/shouldn’t be driving at their age that by doing 68 in a 70 zone they have about 30 cars behind them going “what is the fucking hold up?”I guess there’s just no way to justify doing 80 in what could eeeassily be a 90 zone because a stupid sign says 70.No- not foaming at the mouth… just hate when I’m late because someone wasn’t “going with the flow”.
Just following the rules so I don’t get a huge ticket, thanks. And as far as traffic goes, there’s no way to predict how bad it will be. I can breeze to work in 25 minutes some days and over an hour on others. I think this is because the roadways leading to the peninsula are so limiting and old, they cannot handle the increase of traffic over the last 20 years.
I always drive the speed limit but I’m getting to the point I have to speed to keep the car behind me from going up my ass end…..I figure if you know the speed limits from Point A to Point B then you should know how long it takes to get there going that speed…sorry if you’re late but I’m not risking getting a speeding ticket for nothing …especially when one speeding tickets ups my insurance by 2000$ a year and I kind of enjoy my 80$ a month insurance right now……I just wish people would stay the fuck off my ass before I find a pedestrian or a dog to stop quickly for and you can buy me a new car…..and no I don’t really think it works like that but it’d be nice, especially for the young punks riding my ass when they are just in hurry to rush to the nearest Timmies to show off the car Mommy and Daddy bought them….the mobile speed bump or pace car thing is kind of dumb though because the majority of drivers out there probably pick on these people on purpose thinking they are being slow intentionally
First of all, this pace car idea is stupid. Let the police do the policing. Second of all, I also do the speed limit (with the occasional jump to 5-10 km over), and I also do not intentionally hold up speeders behind me (people who do are looking to get their asses kicked). Having said that, I have to whole heartedly agree with the posts against tail gating. People who are impatient enough to tailgate a car doing the speed limit deserve to eat their steering wheels!
if the keep right law applied in the city i figure there would be signs saying so just like there is on the highway…….if the speed limit is 50 on Main street and I’m going 50 in the left lane then too bad for ya …if your going to pass me that means you’re speeding and I’m pretty sure thats more illegal than staying in the left lane….i lost points on my test for staying in the left lane too but I think they just do that so that you get used to doing it on the highways or other places that you’re supposed to stay right……everyone just needs to get a life, slow the hell down, and drive the way the roads are meant to be driven on …………exactly how much farther do people get going 70 in a 50 than the person going 50……from my experience not very far….I’ve seen many tailgaters speed past me after riding my ass for half the trip with the lane next to us empty the whole way and end up beside me anyways 5 mins up the road
