The Canada Games we spend millions to put on but unless you live in the HRM you cannot see them because they put on a digital channel instead on a channel that is available to all Canadians… incredible. —Something really wrong here

Le sigh. Your bitch has otherwise been covered:

they don’t have digital cable in your area?
I know people in some remote places… and they still have the option for it.
Are you high up in the arctic circle or something?

I find it really interesting that Haligonians/Nova Scotians/Maritimers are up in arms this year about TV coverage – or the lack thereof. Where was the outcry when the games were held in Whitehorse, or London, or Brandon? How come you weren’t outraged then?
This is the way Canada Games coverage has ALWAYS been. Let’s face it – it wouldn’t exactly be a money making venture for our local television stations. In fact, I daresay they’d lose their shirts if they decided to pre-empt American Idol or Criminal Minds for a bunch of 15 year olds playing squash at Saint Mary’s. I’m not trying to belittle the games, but I don’t exactly think the masses are dying for full coverage of these events.
I would imagine our locals news crews (CTV Atlantic, CBC, and Global) will have nightly highlights from the games on their evening newscasts, no? I actually caught a few minutes of Live at 5 on Friday (I know, I know) and they were doing their show from the oval.
I always find it interesting when people complain about things being on specialty or premium channels rather than basic cable. It’s 2011 and nothing is free anymore. If you want to be able to pick and choose what you watch at whim, spend the extra money to get the channels.
then you haven’t been watching the other channels o.p. that shit was all over the place the other day. too much crap on now, as it is.
Something really wrong here ~ apparently you didn’t purchase a subscription for digital cable or BUY tickets to the games that you were fortunate to host in your own back yard! Not like it required a plane ticket and hotel expenses. Shut the fugup already!
Best line ever : “a bunch of 15 year olds playing squash at Saint Mary’s” … lol … I called the Canada Games people today and they did mention that this is the most coverage they have ever had…typical Halifax whiners want everything but won’t pay for it.
Does anyone know where the last Canadian Games (summer or winter) were held and did anyone actually watch them? If the answer is more than 10%, ok 1%, I’d be surprised.
You know what? If you want to see some of the Games that badly, shell out the couple of bucks to attend the actual event instead of sitting there and WHINING about it not being on your precious idiot-box.
