The whole idea with the bike helmet law is that some people want to wear helmets but they know how dorky it makes them look so they make everyone else wear one because they think it will make them look like less of a dork.

This is 2013. Bike helmets don’t look dorky. They are very stylish and very trendy.
I like wearing my helmet. They are false security though. They only protect the top of one’s melon. I smacked my face real good on the road once. Helmet didn’t do diddly squat. Got a concussion and wicked case of road rash anyway.
You don’t want to wear a helmet? Fine with me, i don’t give a rat’s ass about your well being. While you’re at it, pay for your own fucking health care.
I’d be more inclined to wear a helmet using a crosswalk rather than being on my bike around HRM.

Curmudgeonly old deontologist (Thanks Scissors) that I am, I’d have typically responded with something along the lines of “Shut the F@#$ up and wear your F@#$in’ bone dome!”
However, I’ve had a bit of a sea change. I still think that the helmet laws should be in effect, but people should have the option of choosing not to, provided they can produce a valid organ donor card to the detaining officer.
Of course, given how government bureaucracy functions, the whole process is rife with potential for mistakes

We used to ride our bikes in our shorts to the fishin hole witj the poles over the handles and no fishin licence, then swam with the fish….no major injuries to report.

I recently got $140 fine for not wearing a helmet. I am sick of hearing the argument “pay for your own healthcare” because I pay my taxes and I DO pay for my own healthcare. The decision to wear a helmet should be up to me. Do I tell overweight people to stop eating? Do I tell people that smoke to stop smoking? No because I mind my own business. The cops should find something useful to do instead of printing out bullshit tickets.
I wish we could tell those fat fucks to stop eating. Sick kids need top notch medical care, too bad a disproportionate amount of money goes to angioplasties for fat fucks who eat more than they need. Do you know how much an angioplasty costs? And for most people its to service something that was preventable. Idiots.
