With the amount of media coverage being given to the Olympic torch-er tour and talk of boycotts we now get to listen to a bunch spoiled elitist athletes whine and cry about how the olympics have nothing to do with politics and how unfair it would be if these poor athletes couldn’t go play. These spoiled brats, who don’t give a flying fuck about anything other than playing their silly games and shooting up with steroids and winning a medal to get a corporate p r job or commercial endorsement , are not worthy to represent our country and are certainly not worthy of being supported by our tax dollars.

  1. I completely support the athletes. Politics have nothing to do with it. They’re actually not silly games. These athletes dedicate their life and energy for a chance to win a gold medal. JB, I can see you really hate keeping fit, being active and supporting a good life!

  2. I agree with you completely JB. If an athlete wishes to compete at whatever level they wish to, power to them. Just don’t expect me to pay for you achieving your “personal best”.The argument presented that the games have nothing to do with politics is yet another display of complete self-absorbment and total lack of consideration for anyone elses situation. It seems that to some of these athletes it doesn’t matter who has to suffer, who has to pay, and who has to be stripped of their rights and freedoms in order for them to get what they want: a simple gold medal.

  3. So, was it OK for China to send athletes to all the previous olympics given their human rights record? Or can they just participate in the games but not host it? How about all the other countries in the world with human rights violations? Even Canada has been criticized this way because of our treatment of the first nations peoples. Maybe WE shouldn’t be allowed to host the winter gamed in 2010. And if China is soooo offensive to our high and nobel ideals maybe we should just stop buying their stuff. This is exactly why the Olympics is supposed to transcend politics….otherwise we would never stop fighting and protesting long enough to come together and play games.

  4. HOW THE FUCK ARE THESE ATHLETES GETTING WHAT THEY WANT FROM TIBET? Man, some of the posts on here are just becoming ridiculous. If China was chosen to host the games, then this crap happen, how is that the athletes’ fault????????Egon, your statement makes no sense. The athletes can simply go and compete in another country. Let’s say the other country did something like what China did, should we completely stop the Olympics because of world political issues? Are you going to stop living your life because of what’s happening in Tibet?Miles, I completely agree with you and thank you. I think it’s the dumbest thing to see protesters trying to stop the games and the Olympic torch (which has nothing to do with politics) for their own gain. It’s too late to pick another country now. China already has a bad human rights record, so does Canada, so does US, so does Iraq, so does Saudi Arabia, so does Britain, so does Greece. Awesome, let’s all just stop, not go to work, not go to school, not visit family, not go to the beach, not go for long walks or drives or hikes, and let’s all go out and protest.I’m sorry to see what’s happening in Tibet, but what about Iraq, Canada, US, the rest of the world? Also, Canada doesn’t support Canadian athletes. None of your precious tax money goes to them. They have to work, train, go to school and finance themselves.

  5. oh god to be honestly I think its overkill and I don’t hate sports but someone who can ride out life on a football scholar ship is frigged
