Can’t spent too much time today considering all the possible conspiracies people talk about, you’d go batty. And especially
the war on drugs, when I am a person that has found great pain relief from smoking marijuana. Now I’m not ignorant to the stigma surrounding this plant. And to be honest I prefer to eat products made with pot, instead of smelling like Cheech & Chong. Which can be hard to avoid at times. If Canada would wake up, as a recent article in The Coast has pointed out, people that know the legitimate benefits of this amazing plant, both health as well as financial, know the war on drugs is a sham. This is where I have become personally convinced it is the pharmaceutical agenda behind pulling the real strings on the marijuana issue. A simple visit to the doctors office. My doc is well aware that I smoke for pain. I have not tried to hide it. He has stated in the past that he won’t issue a license as it can contribute to addiction! Well not much of a doctor with that opinion, but that is another matter. We’ll talk about that one when he has no problem issuing prescriptions for opiate based meds. Pure hypocrisy. But to really drive the point home, he is willing to give me a prescription for Cesamet. A synthetic thc pill! I might as well been slapped in the face. That is like saying, “Here you can have this refined white sugar, but we’ll arrest you if we catch you with any sugar cane.” Again such bold faced hypocrisy.
And I don’t entirely blame the doctors. They are puppets. Period. Because if they had any real common sense and really did care about the health of their patients, they wouldn’t let some faceless corporation dictate drug policy, just so they can have a bigger bottom line this quarter.
And please don’t try to convince me that it’s about proper doses, as some doctors use as an argument. You can’t convince me for a second that some stoner who has been smoking recreation-ally, can figure out what strains are best for what, but yet a highly trained chemist can’t?!?
Please how stupid do you think we are?
It’s time to have health CARE in Canada, not just a health system. End the war on marijuana!

Tl;dr version: Blah, blah, blah, Big Pharma is bad, blah blah.
Get some Dilly’s and Oxy’s and shut up.
You’re rambling. Here – have some cheese doodles.
The ignorance of some of these commenters…..WTF!
Let’s get the solution going people! Everyone…..join the group to fight for legal medical cannabis growing at your local MP office on February 21st at 11am. Be there!

Fuck the law!!!! Fuck your doctor!!!!!! Fuck a society that judges what it doesn’t understand!!!!!!!!
Hey Harper, why don’t you pick on someone other than the sick and poor of this country. Oh… wait a minute, that would take time away from appointing rapists to the senate.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jHi-8Ykx-8
He picks on them to fill the jails he’s gonna contract out to be built….shit….don’t you read the Coast?
Steve I totally agree with you.
Just legalize it already! I don’t use it but it could be good source of tax revenue.
I read that Nova Scotia had the highest rate of legal marijuana users in Canada, you should be able to find a doctor that will prescribe it to you. Then again many aren’t accepting new patients a lot of the time.
Legalize marijuana? Sure. Just make sure you legalize military style assault weapons with high capacity magazines at the same time. After all, a harmless lifestyle choice isn’t going to lead to more crime, now is it? Especially if the offence has been removed from the books.
*Disclaimer – I’m only being semi-serious here. I probably wouldn’t shoot a drooling stoner for calling me dude and wanting to crash on my couch and eat all my gabagool , but you never know >: )
I know several people who use medical marijuana, it seems that it’s cheaper to buy from an illegal dealer than to buy from a dispensary (wtf?).
“Power Plant” – A registered strain, is phenomenal for pain control.

“In strict medical terms marijuana is far safer than many foods we commonly consume. For example, eating 10 raw potatoes can result in a toxic response. By comparison, it is physically impossible to eat enough marijuana to induce death. Marijuana in its natural form is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known to man. By any measure of rational analysis marijuana can be safely used within the supervised routine of medical care. [DEA Administrative Law Judge – 1988]” ― Francis Young
Will you be my Valentine? Weed be so good together 😉
That’s some good stuff right there^^
All great quotes Hugo (especially the Dumas), with the exception of this one:
“The illegality of cannabis is outrageous, an impediment to full utilization of a drug which helps produce the serenity and insight, sensitivity and fellowship so desperately needed in this increasingly mad and dangerous world.” ― Carl Sagan
Does anybody else find it not merely stupid, but actually disquieting in it’s implicit dismissal of human nature and free will. Some notions are so asinine that only a genius can believe them.
I’m all for legalizing marijuana, I just highly doubt that the reason it isn’t already legal is because of some conspiracy theory involving Big Pharma. And until somebody shows me some good data that says otherwise, I will continue to stand by that statement.
someone intimately familar with all sorts of mood altering shit once told me that people gravitate towards drugs that enhance what they already are. oddly enough.
mellow people like weed, it makes them even mellower. speedy people like cocaine, it makes them even speedier.
i tried marijuana 3 times in my life, each time i got a panic attack from it. that horrid drifty feeling just freaked me out and i had the urge to get a total and immediate blood transfusion to *get it OUT of me!*
cocaine would be my drug of choice because of the touted clarity and sharpness and i love it when i feel my mind crackle and snap. so i have never tried it. if i thought the good times would last i would. i use the legal & commercial canned *coke* instead.
so i don’t know if sagan would be happy with the results….would we just have half the population all mellow and forgiving and sensitive, whilst the other half hacks them to pieces?
i have just about zilch experience with mind altering stuff. what say ye who do?
The only thing more tedious than the tinfoil hat rants about Big Pharma, Privatized Prisons and Harper’s Fourth Reich are the personal endorsements:
“I been smoking weed every day since I was 12 and I’m still not addicted so suck on that, science”
But even that pales in comparison to those who try to argue that some sort of societal benefit will inevitably accrue from them being allowed to realize their personal hedonistic desires.
Now don’t get me wrong. I’m all in favor of hedonistic desires being realized (just so long as no animals , children or midgets are involved). But I’d just appreciate a little honesty.
“I like smoking marijuana and would like to do it without having to risk spending the next 2 years in an 8 X 12 cell, tossing the salad of a 400lb black muslim named Raheem every night.” That’s a logic that I can appreciate. But it’s hardly an argument winner.
So, I will support your right to smoke marijuana until your lungs turn black when you support my right to shoot you dead if you try putting your hempy cock-skinners on any of my shit. > ; )
Some pain patients choose marijuana instead of other prescription meds. like opiates because they fear becoming addicted to the opiates.
Pain patients who also have trouble eating because of their illness like weed.
GDM – the first time I tried it, it turned me into a motormouth. The 2nd time, it put me to sleep, which was a tad inconvenient because I was trying to chat up a girl at Domus, at the time. I only had one bad experience of coming down, but let me tell you, it was as far from Sagan’s “serenity and insight” as Alpha Centauri is from Earth. “Sensitivity” – Oh Yeah. I was jumping out of my skin.
As for “fellowship”, Oh Sure. We’ve all had those nights, completely snoggered and lifetime buddies with everyone in the bar. That lasts only as long as it takes you to spill some other bloke’s beer or stare at his lass’s tittage for a nanosecond too long.
Why is it that people think they have a right to dictate their “values” on everyone else? Where is my right to decide how I want to live my life? Why should I, or anyone else, be demonized because we choose an alternative to alcohol?
Lets face it, the only reason that marijuana is still illegal is because it was tossed in with such schedule 1 drugs as heroin and cocaine. How does a government (made up of politicians, not doctors or scientists) reclassify it, then force all the people they spent billions of dollars convincing marijuana is bad, that they were wrong and marijuana is now good? Imagine the outrage of the public when they find out they were lied to, and were forced to pay for the worlds most expensive mistake.
But.. op… there IS medical marijuana available to those who need it.
I know because i was on TCH pills for awhile for spinal arthritis. That is until i realized they made the pain worse (it’s not normal but it CAN happen – in my case sadly it did. Which was too bad because the stress from my pain WAS lessened a lot)
Point is.. it’s perfectly available. If your doctor isn’t listening and you’re still in pain, get a new doctor.
BUT if you have a past history of drug abuse (either prescription or street) you likely won’t get it from anyone. Just a head’s up.. 🙁

If this man was simply on weed would things have been better or worse.
Hugo How’s things?I missed you at the last summit. 🙁
^^ Alright, this has to be the worst sarcasm I’ve done yet because I just came back and it’s not funny enough to qualify as humor, and not directly relevant enough to qualify as a valid point ^^
Still interesting information.
