  1. im so sick of these bitches. Everyone shut up about smoking and sunday shopping. its fucking taboo now(no offense to you SOTOS, because i agree)but its really, REALLY getting annoying.

  2. What gauls the fuck out of me is that most of SUV owners are city residents. Why in Christ’s name would you need such a belching, behemothic piece of metal to drive across town? Yeah, I laugh at these stupid bastards who go on and on about smoking outside – go stand on Hollis Street sometime and take a whiff of the exhaust pipes of the endless 18 wheelers roaring through – why not ban those polluting fuckers too???I’m waiting for a fat tax next.

  3. You know, while I agree that automobile exhaust is bad, and that irresponsible and unneccessary driving is rampant, the logic of equating automobile exhaust with second hand cigarette smoke falls apart pretty quickly.Smoking is a lifestyle choice. Nobody NEEDS to smoke. It is not a neccessity to anyone, for any reason. Some automobile exhaust is unavoidable. Our society, our economy, CANNOT FUNCTION without automobiles. They are a neccessary evil. How do you think your free range chicken gets to the organic grocery store? By horse and carriage?I am weary of this leave-us-poor-smokers-alone-and-go-after-the-REAL-polluters arguement. It doesn’t hold water.

  4. I’m still trying to figure out why smoking rooms in bars and restaurants were banned – talk about eliminating freedom of choice. If I want to smoke in a smoke-filled bar for smokers, I should be able to do so and not have to listen to the tiresome rantings of you asshole anti-smokers and your police whistles. If non-smokers had their way, I’m sure most of us would be airdropped into Halifax Harbour.

  5. HA! Eliminate 18-wheelers? I guess you are going to bike or walk to Toronto and pick up your groceries at the warehouses, where a horse & carriage delivered them from the manufacturer. Coyote, thank you for some logic here.

  6. If we bought locally produced foods we wouldnt need 18 wheelers coming from centralized locations half-way across the country.

  7. I am totally in favour of buying locally, Unkul. A trip to the farmer’s market any saturday morning will show you that a lot of people want to buy locally. But I’m not prepared to give up lemons and olives. Like most people, I want fresh tomatos in February. And coffee. Let us not forget that coffee doesn’t grow in this hemisphere. You think smokers are up in arms. Just wait and see what happens when we can’t get coffee!OK, I’m being facetious. But equating automobile exhaust with tobacco smoke is stupid. Stop it.

  8. What about people who don’t smoke OR drive SUVs? Can we still bitch about your filthy little addiction? Can we continue to point out that not only are smokers exhaling all manner of nasty pollutants into the atmosphere (admittedly mininscule amounts when compared to say, driving an SUV, but still), but are also propping up an industry that uses less-than-ideal farming practices to produce a cash crop which is then shipped (in 18 wheelers) from places like southwestern Ontario (where 95 percent of Canada’s tobacco is grown) to places like Halifax?
