I worked for you because I believed in what you did and thought your food to be delicious. I quickly learned you were a hack who stole all of “your recipes” (pretty much to the letter) from a more successful restaurant you had worked at previous. You worked us like dogs, paid minimum wage (for which you constantly complained about), took our tips (STOLE our tips), never gave us breaks, didn’t bother to familiarize yourself with labour laws and constantly dragged your giant suitcase full of fucked-up family, kid, divorce drama with you to work. What’s great about this situation is—I got a new job. A job with benefits, amazing people, a beautiful space. What’s more, I keep my tips. Every penny, and boy, am I reeling them in. So, while your shitty restaurant is bleeding money—I’m living the high life, having fun, going to the motherfucking dentist and am generally happy. -No Longer Yours

Good for you on the dentist but I cannot believe there is a person in Canada who does not visit the dentist two to three times per year. Fuck the no dental plan excuse as oral health care is key to your overall health.
This is not the UK. Factor the price into your monthly expenses and when the appointment comes along (they provide the date of our next appointment months in advance) so this will not come as a surprise. Really, this is shocking to me in 2014.

Dentistry without a dental plan isn’t really in the cards for someone earning min wage or close to it. I should know. Just a basic checkup & cleaning would erode a months pay pretty close to the bone. Just drink less pop.
Cranky, yes it can get expensive but if a person were to put aside X dollars bi-weekly then the treatment would be covered as it is minimum twice a year.
Most people get two free sets of teeth in their lifetime. Baby teeth and adult teeth. The third set has to be purchased.
When I was underwaged, I went to the dental school since my dental care requirements were (and still are) pretty low-key, but the appointments are long so I can see how it doesn’t work for everybody.

Eh. My dentist actually told me I only have to go once yearly because my oral health is exceptional. *shrug* I’m 32 and don’t have any dental work at all — not even so much as a cavity.
2-3 times a year (at what? $250 a pop) is kind of expensive when you make minimum wage and not really always necessary.

Good for you OB. A few years ago I worked at a shitty restaurant on quinpool that were just as bad. Steal your tips right in front of you, never allow breaks no matter how long you worked, belittled and demeaned your character to patrons and staff, were racist in regards to their minority staff members, homophobes, Pathological liars. The women owner was the most vile piece of shit I’ve ever had the displeasure of working for in my life. Disgusting humans to say the very least. Cheers to quitting those type of jobs with a bang and a big old fuck you! Good luck in your future endeavours!
A good server can make or break a restaurant trip, I ALWAYS tip extra for good service, and make sure the server gets it personally.
Koda, I’ve just had a cleaning and two cavities done in the past week, grand total was north of $800, a person on min wage couldn’t set aside X dollars bi-weekly for dental, they’re setting aside 100% just to survive. I’m biased as I have UK teeth, they’re like a NAAFI piano keyboard, one black, one white and one missing. Old Navy Joke.
