My dog is a rescue with a horrible past and because of that, she hates other dogs. We are aware of that, that is why she is walked on-leash through on-leash parks. Your off-leash dog in said on-leash park charged at us. Had your dog been on a leash, I would have gone out of my way to avoid you because my dog is a known asshole but again your dog charged us. If I hadn’t of dropped the leash, my dog would have have felt trapped and most likely would have bitten your dog or accidentally bitten me because that is what trapped/scared dogs do. You’re lucky your dog just got a scare. I suggest, that either you teach your dog not to charge other strange dogs or that you walk the extra five minutes and bring your dog to the beautiful off-leash dog park that is full of well-socialized dogs that I would love to be able to walk my dog in but can’t because even though she is an amazing, cuddly, loving dog, who I trust more than anything, she turns into an asshole when she is around other dogs. —…..you ruined my walk too

  1. So, you drop the leash and YOUR asshole dog attacks the other friendly, unsuspecting dog.

You dropped the leash, allowing your asshole dog loose, so YOU wouldn’t be bit…

Bitten by your amazing, cuddly, loving dog, who you trust more than anything…

    And YOUR walk was ruined.

So, did I sum that up correctly?

  2. you have a dog that will bite you even after he has bonded with you? That is insane.

You need rescuing. The dog needs to be put down.

  3. ‘…if I hadn’t dropped my leash.’

Always an excuse. You were the person who took an unstable, antisocial animal to a dog park – what the hell did you expect? Common sense should have told you that there was the potential for this situation but you went ahead anyway. You only have yourself to blame.

  4. You people need to read things better. I don’t know about this situation but the OP suggested it wasn’t a dog park. That it was an on-leash area and that he doesn’t take his dog to the dog park because the dog is unstable. The OP also suggested that his dog was leashed and the other dog charged them off leash. Meaning the other dog owner was breaking the law. When you are walking a nervous dog on a leash and another dog approaches them unleashed, dropping the leash is how you handle that situation. A dog will only fight as a last resort, if your dog is leashed therefore restrained, it will think it has no other option than to fight. They are animals and aren’t very smart. If a human tries to break up a dog fight, that human might accidentally get bit. It doesn’t mean the dog is vicious, it’s an animal. Dog owners need to follow the rules, the other dog should have been leashed or taken to an actual dog park to run around.

  5. People break rules at the on-leash dog parks all the time. Never assume anything, especially with a nervous, antisocial dog.

  6. Imo, dropping the leash is dumb. It now means that you have 2 dogs off leash instead of one.

But that is just my opinion, Im not afraid of dogs. If an off leash dog gets agressive, they better back the fuck off before I grab them by the ears and rub their nose up and down a power pole.

  7. Fuck that, if some dillwad has their dog off leash in an on leash park and their dog gets it’s ass whooped by my on leash dog, so be it. And, if my on leash dog gets injured, expect to get the vet bill.

  8. I concur with OB, i have a rescue dog as well.. he can handle walking with other dogs in the area around him and because of this i only walk him at on-leash parks. if an off leash dog runs at us he goes into defense mode. It’s happened before at an on-leash park…a dog ran at us and didn’t/wouldn’t listened to it’s owner trying to call him back, it ended up getting a bite on the nose (no puncture) but i ended up bleeding because i shoved my hand in his mouth and took the worst of it to protect the other dog. At the very least if you are going to have your dog of leash it should be under effective control.
