I ran across this gem while reading a Coast Editorial about the Occupy Everywhere for Whatever movement…

“We matter, damn it, and our society has failed us.”
Actually, that’s wrong on both counts. These people have gone out of their way to NOT matter. Through their abuse of drugs, their poorly chosen fields of study, their nurturing of a childish entitlement mentality and their simply repellant appearance, these park piddlers have rendered themselves unemployable and largely useless. They don’t create anything of value, they provide no desirable services. Outside of pity, there is actually no reason to give these people money. None. Society hasn’t failed these parasites, they have failed themselves. —Tired of Paying for the Bad Decisions of Others

  1. I’m sorry, is this about Occupy NS or NSCAD? Because you could read it both ways. Just sayin’

  2. “Society has failed me” is something “artists” say between the time they receive the reality check that they’re not as talented as they’d like to think, and the time when they realize that’s why they’re unsuccessful.

  3. The whole slogan should actually be “the baby boomers have failed us”. Not having kids and saving less (in proportion to their incomes) imply that the younger, and smaller, generations (us) have to finance their golden years both directly (higher taxes) and indirectly (by taking care of old people). So, to a certain degree, society has failed us.

  4. OB, they are not even worthy of pity. I can’t wait until they crawl their stoner asses back into their parents’ basements.

  5. “seven billion and counting” – India 1/3 the size of Canada, 2nd largest population, will passs China in about 20 years

  6. BTW OB, that’s what they said about the Hippies in the 60’s. The majority of them “sold out and joined the establishment”, lawers, doctors, politicians etc., same thing will happen again. These protest will have about as much effect too.

The protesters have as much right to be there as anybody else. As long as they clear the space (I might even help with the clean-up that Sunday), no problems. I hope they feel welcome and stay for the Remembrance Day ceremony,

  7. canned – speaking as a boomer, please don’t make assumptions, some of us did the right thing and squirrelled a few $$ away for our retirement and are enjoying it. What we resent is (pardon the sweeping generalization) having to step over the filthy, druggies and other assorted scum that will amount to less than a centipedes port testicle.

  8. Some of you, yes, but as a group, the baby boomers did not save enough and as a result we have to pay for it.

  9. never… never… ever … say that again.
mr. pizza and his stupid slogans …. geez.

It’d be like having Teddy Long for Prez.

  10. It’s not about people being parasites it’s about people finally standing up and saying why the fuck is that 1% of the world rich, why do they keep getting richer and we keep getting poorer. So before you bitch get your fucking facts right.

  11. Why is 1% rich? Maybe because they worked hard, invented something, and earned it? CEOs don’t just drop from the skies. Most aren’t satisfied with the status quo so they work at improvements and have high ambition. Even some born into rich families don’t start at the top. I know both Sobey’s and Irvings make their young sweep floors, clean bathrooms, and other shit jobs when they start out.

  12. …a CEO fucks up and thousands lose their jobs and 100 of thousands of pensions suffer..a star b-baller fucks up and peeps throw shit at their idiot boxes..

  13. BRo TIm…if you are incapable of understanding that the financial sector of the US almost crashed & brought the entire world monetary system to its knees. These greedy fucking bankers who get millions in Bonuses, still paid themselves huge bonuses once the Government bailed them out with tax payer funds.
If you can’t understand grasp that is WRONG.
No one can explain it to you.
Did you know that most of that money never made it to the American People as described, but was retained by the banks & used to help other banks & pay these huge bonuses !
What were the bonuses for …fucking up royally ?!?
when you bankrupt or almost bankrupt a business, why should taxpayers be on the hook for that ? Why should those who fucked up royally get big bonuses ?

  14. Bro…
if there were 2 sweeper/cleaner boys for a grocery store…
    myself and the CEO’s son…
in no nanosecond would I ever think I could move up to CEO one day.
    That would just be stupid.
(not that I would think I could even were it not the CEO’s son…)

they may get in at ground level, but it’s the inheritance that lets them ride the wave.

  15. Oh man, totally buggered that one. The news that there’s a lot more poor people than rich isn’t something new. Maybe we need a MagnaCarta Reboot? Ha ha.

I know a functional retard that is being spoonfed through university (gov’t grants and all). Who are we helping when this clown ‘graduates’ and finds out that people don’t higher retards. Why do we give this person money? Why does she have a ‘right’ to go in debt for something she will never pay back with her ‘degree’? Fucking bleeding hearts.

  16. zZz, the only person that’s preventing you from climbing the ladder is your attitude. Like I said CEO just don’t drop down from the sky (other than maybe heirs and there really aren’t too many of them, and do you think the board of Hilton Hotels would let Paris to run anything in the company, including a vacuum).

  17. You know times are tough when comic books are advertising “Sea Monkeys – for Pets or Food”
    Mmmmmmmm. Briny shrimp.
