The international scale of Occupy kinda disproves the whole dead part of your argument.
No, it isn’t about wanting the government to give individuals money to fuck around. It just isn’t. Anyone who says it is is too lazy to ask why thousands of people are so frustrated as to leave their homes (if they have homes) to freeze, be pepper-sprayed, be cold, be yelled at, etc.
They are trying to communicate that the system at large is flawed. Good for you that you have done well, but it’s not about individuals, it’s about a systems that favours corporations and the rich over everyone else. Every hard working person should be angry that the rich get handouts. Why do people find it easier to be angry at a couple pot-smoking protesters than at corporations and governments that are systematically creating inequality?
OB, just pray the protesters OD on the heroin, or get so stoned they freeze to death. The only movement the protesters have are bowel movements.
The system has always been flawed, its time for them to grow up and start looking for solutions.
The system in the US favours the rich, in Canada it favours the poor. In NS there are a handful of people that would qualify as rich but we are a jealous spiteful bunch and would love to see them brought down rather than trying to encourage our youth to aspire to more than a government job/handout. I support the protest in the US, not here.

Does anybody else find it incongruous that a group which seems to live in such fear of government in general, and the Harper government in particular, enacting legislation that would limit people’s rights, are so adamant in their certainty that that is exactly what government should be doing in this case. It’s so easy to say that the “rich” or the1 % should pay their “Share” but how do you determine what that is, and more importantly who exactly is competent to be entrusted with that power.
It’s hard as hell to get government to do something, but once begun, it’s virtually impossible to get them to stop. And as for those baying for the blood of the kulaks, be very cautious. You may find yourself categorized as a kulak someday.
