I received the final power bill for my recently-passed father’s account. I called to pay it as he left an insolvent estate. NSP wouldn’t talk to me nor take a payment as I was not an authorized user on the account. Now you know why your power rates are so high… even higher now… I’m not paying it now… —Mr. Meaty

THE REASON NSP RATES ARE SO HIGH
“Now you know why your power rates are so high.” Mr. Meaty
Are the power rates in Nova Scotia so high because NSP would not talk to unauthorized users of deceased parents’ insolvent estates? There must be an epidemic of unauthorized users, deceased parents, insolvent estates or a combination of all three. This is complex.
A pleasure as always.
Cheerio!
Meaty, it’s ridiculous I know, but they may need a copy of the death certificate–check with the people who handled your father’s remains. So sorry you have to deal with this crap, and for NSP to not even accept a payment–sounds like a cash grab to me, how petty.
Atta boy, Meaty, stick it to the man (figuratively in this case at least)! LOL
No more complex than trying to pay a bill and not being permitted to do that…
A PERFECT STORM
The epidemic of unauthorized users, deceased parents and insolvent estates resulted in a perfect storm. However, and this was my (unspoken) point, the perfect storm did not, of itself, result in NSP rates being so high.
There is a logical gap here. This is why the issue was so complex. It wasn’t trying to to pay a bill and not being permitted to do that but rather it was because of that logical gap which required a resolution at a higher order of explanation. You might want to give it a go.
A pleasure as always.
Cheerio!
