Thank you to everyone who turned out to a wonderful Remembrance Day service at Grand Parade today, except for you two. You were wearing green NSCC hoodies and had a DSLR and two unruly kids in tow. One of you apparently mistook the ceremony for your own personal art project, because you fiddled with your camera and sounded your shutter off all through the Last Post, the minute of silence, and Taps. All the while your kids were squealing and mangling a nearby rose bush. You told them to stop once, then observed as they kept doing it. Guess you spend more time behind the camera than in front of your kids.
Do everyone around you a favour, stay home next year and take pictures of your lattes where you’re not bothering anyone. —Shutters Ain’t Silence

“Taps” is an American military tradition. In Canada, the 2 minutes off silence are followed by a bugle call titled “The Rouse”
Young kids running amuck at Remembrance Day services are the rule, rather than the exception, as is Flanders Beatnik style parenting. As they get older, hopefully, the event will become more significant for them.
Clearly a childless person, jealous over someone else’s fortune…
…fortune being relevant, of course.
NSCC…

WHAT IS ART?
“You apparently mistook the ceremony for your own personal art project…” Shutters Ain’t Silence
“art (n): skill, esp. human skill as opposed to nature; skilful execution as an object in itself.” (The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Current English)
Clearly, the art students were attempting to hone their skills – in this case the skilful execution of photography as an art object in itself – which, unlike nature, is a paradigmatically human achievement. As a consequence, one must be duly humble when in the presence of artistic creation.

A pleasure as always,
Cheerio!
I like this bitch. op couldn’t have done/said anything at the time or would have contributed to the problem, but I am glad there was enough detail to identify the idiots.
I HATE rudeness and bad manners.
how could so many people not ‘get’ meaty’s comment?
