Have you guys noticed that most work related bitches on The Coast tend to have a narcissistic quality to them?
OP will be pissed at a coworker that doesn’t work.
Or OP will be upset with the way they are treated.
Or OP will be upset about decisions made by management.
I have rarely seen any comment that suggested that the OP is concerned about their employer’s interests. Or any comments that suggest that the OP actually shows any pride in their work. Do they hold certain work ethics important?
Is this common in NS? Are all Nova Scotians so insecure about our jobs that they are trapped in a culture of: getting defensive about ourselves or contemptuous about others?
Do you realize that in job markets where I am confidant that I can get another job, I have actually raised issues and concerns that I thought were in the best interest of my employer?
Where is the pride that you should have for your own skills and labour?
Do you really want to go through life being on the ‘walking dead’ ie someone that goes to work each day but doesn’t give a shit about anything. Are you really that narcissistic? —Have Worked Elsewhere, and I’m Not in NS for the Money

In my experience most work related bitches here are directed towards those individuals or management policies that make it virtually impossible to take pride in your job and kills any desire to labor for the good of an institurion that is unwilling or incapable of showing the slightest reciprocity. IMHO.
‘I have actually raised issues and concerns that I thought were in the best interest of my employer…’ You are just a fucking numbered cog to 99 94/100% of employers. I watched my Dad get royally fucked by Esso for being a stellar (and never absent) employee for 35 years – they laid him off a month before his official retirement which cut his pension considerable. I was 17 years old when this happened and vowed that no employer would ever get that pound of flesh from me. I get paid for my work and I’ll be fucked if I’m going to do anything beyond the call of ‘duty’ for some fat-cat employer who won’t remember me a week after I’m gone.
I think most of the op bitches are about employees who get away with being slack .You know 1 person working and the other 3 or 4 on facebook ,or the coast or taking frequent breaks and getting paid the same as them.It goes on everywhere.I see it constantly in the building where i work. Its fine to work towards a common goal of your employer and to maximize productivity and ultimately profit, but when you do more work then the “water cooler “crowd or the person who is checking their friends status every second they get ,it does kinda piss you off. Most people are proud of what they do and like to get recognized for it,but when the slacker gets the same treatment ,well its off to the bitch columm.Im not sure if where you came from jobs are a dime a dozen (like fort macmoney)but where jobs are not as available here ,well yeah we have every right to bitch about the slacker.
I hate bitches about bitches…
In the first place, it’s a Bitch board. Therefore, you’re less likely to hear something nice about someone’s employer. Check the Love board for that…
In the second place, try going to your employer to give them “advice” or suggestions that are actually helpful or “of interest” and see how far that gets you in this godforsaken place.
I’ve been back in the work force here for 6 years, and I have yet to have an employer (contract or otherwise) who hired me for my “expertise, insight, skills, talents, and experience” who actually *allows* me to use any of those things to better their company.
Even when they know they know nothing, they don’t want advice. Sometimes I actually *gasp* miss Toronto where at least they knew what the words “professional” and “co-operative” meant. (I know, I know….)
Whatever, bra. I’m going to write a bitch about myself now. I should have been more humble when my boss asked me to clean the excess fecal matter from the hairs around his anus. I mean who the fuck am I? I suck.
OP, I don’t know what the hell you are talking about. I’ve never been so insecure about my job that I allowed it to affect my performance. In a slow job market, it is sometimes the guy that is willing to pick up the phone at 1am that stays employed.
For those of you that imply that it is wrong to care about your job, you are wrong. It is good to care about your job, just don’t care too much about it.
Tom:”I hate bitches about bitches…”
Are you bitching, or just saying?
🙂
OB, those people bitching about their coworkers and work staff are the ones who hide in cubicles contributing nothing valuable to improving the company. Time to seek and destroy them.
I worked as a supervisor at a job for four years, I LIVED my job because that is what the company wanted, I pulled 17 hour shifts when othesr fell sick without even blinking, I never questioned management or the owners, I did as I was told and was praised by business owners for doing so. I was very proud of how well I did my job, and took an immense amount of pride in my work. Four years later those same owners closed up and left town without a trace owing myself and about 68 other people at least a months pay.( not to repeat a bitch, sorry guys:) ) But I think most of the bitches on here are about similar type situations regarding terrible management, and like yourself, people have a right to be heard. Not everyone who bitches about work is lazy ot too self involved to enjoy our work. Some of us are just fed up with bleeding for companies who leave us for fodder.
see ya see…this is why i’d rather sling grub than work in an office
a reputation for being a good worker is like an education…..they are both burdens that you carry lightly on your shoulders. enough said.
There is so much more humor available when no one at work is insecure about their job.
Things like:
Boss:”Hey Bill! Are you handy?”
3rd party:”Handy? He’s fucking useless.”
Boss:”No, that is not what I meant. I meant can I talk to him?”
3rd party:” Yep, you can talk to him, but it doesn’t mean he’ll listen. “
Boss:”I give up, I’m going back to my office”
Boss:” Clean up the crap before you start the next work order”
employee:” Oh….so you want me to do the job correctly? You should have said something earlier.”
Boss:” Hey numbnuts, wtf are you doing?”
employee:” More than usual, so bite me.”
‘”…Time to seek and destroy them.”
Totally! One useless f-a-g-g-o-t at a time.’
