I got a voter card at my door and the only ways it has to vote are to go to some remote location in person and if you want to do it by mail you have to call a number to find out how. Why should I go to the trouble of calling a number just to find out how to be able to vote in a practical way? I should be able to just drop that card in any mail box, postage free, or I should be able to vote from the Internet from my home like I pay my taxes. If they aren’t going to make voting practical or convenient then why should anybody even bother? I sure won’t. That card will go straight in the garbage. —Bob_1

Do you have someone in a couple of times a week to wipe your bum? How about chewing your food? Punishing Percy in the Palm? It’s truly outrageous what the gubbmint “makes” a tax paying citizen do for himself isn’t it?
Maybe his rascal is on the fritz?
Although I agree with OP…that you should be able to vote online just like the last city election….I’m going out of my way to vote to make sure my voice is heard and dippers are ousted.
Well, if this isn’t a clear case for the HR folks to get involved in. Imagine, being asked to do your duty as a member of society once or twice every 4 or 5 years, oh the inhumanity of it. Perhaps you’d like Messrs Dexter, MacNeil and Baillie to personally turn up at your place so you can mark on one of their foreheads a big X in crayon?
You’re probably one of the dumb fucks who bitch about how shitty things are, but when asked if you voted, you go back on campus.
Voter turn out is abysmally small, and yes, I’ve heard the usual complaints that the parties are all the same, politics is shite, they’re all corrupt etc. but, by not participating you’re part of the malaise that is oh so prevalent here in Nova Shitstain.
My name is Basil Fawlty and I approve of this message.
My form mentioned I can vote from my home* as someone would come to me. (Maybe laziness is one of the approved criterion).
*Certain conditions apply. Not valid for bitchers on LTWWB etc.
Why do I get the feeling you’re one of these people who will just sit around and complain about everything after the election?
If you find it that hard to get off your ass to vote you’re a lazy piece of shit who has no right to complain about anything that has to do with how your tax dollars are being managed, but you will because that’s just how people like you go through life.
OP, you need to be airdropped into Syria.
Don’t give me your bullshit excuses – if you don’t vote, then shut your stupid gob with any future complaints about how this province is run.
I don’t give a shit if you don’t like any of the candidates, you apathetic twat. You could spoil a ballot with a kitty cat face or a rendering of the Last Supper but at least you’d be voting. People have died for this right and all you can whine is that ‘it’s too far away’. Well, fuck you.
From now until October 3rd, you can go to any returning office IN THE PROVINCE and vote – this is printed on every voting card – YOU CAN’T READ???? It was plain as the stale air in your empty noggin. Lazy fucktard. Excuses, excuses, excuses.
I approve T T Fonebone’s message…
What uncle ivan said.
You are lazy as fuck, OB.
This just in – Hedgehog Wannabee Trevor Fink is not running for public office – he obviously knew the voters in his constituency were suffering from compassion fatigue. Aside from the possibility of becoming a resident of the Crowbar Hotel.
TTFonebone, methinks I saw the Zinckster stocking up on KY and condoms in preparation for his trip to Omar Khadrs house of Halalapalooza?
OB, you are just a plain lazy fuck. People like you, even though you have a right to vote, shouldn’t vote because you’d probably put the X in the first box you see because you’re too fucking lazy to read the rest of it. I feel bad for those who fought for your rights and you are too fucking lazy to exercise that right. Fuck you and your kind (too lazy to vote).
Absolutely, Basil – by the time he gets out, he’ll be able to sit on a fire hydrant and sink to the ground.
Personally, I’m relieved that jellyfish babies like the OP can’t be bothered to vote.
Hey now all y’all…
All the past votes have turned to shit.
Maybe a little voter fraud may actually get us somewhere.
Not voting is a vote for the status quo…..or whatever the status quo becomes.
LAZY BASTARD ALERT.
I’m not going to vote in the election either, Bob.
Sidenote; Look what happened when we all banded together for that sexy bastard Dexter.
Banded together? Last provincial election in 2009, the voter turnout was as dismal as a wharf rat’s sex life.
If Dex can be voted in, he can be voted out. If you can’t be bothered to vote, you’re part of the problem, not part of the solution.
Cannot believe you lazy fucktards out there. You all need to be flogged with raw broccoli by Sister Mary of the Sacred Areolas.
33% or less
The voter turnout may have been dismal, but it was enough to get that sexy bastard in. Now everyone that voted for him, wants him out, poor Dexter 🙁 This is part of why people don’t care.
And not voting in this election does not make me a lazy fuck. It makes me a realist.
…a realist?
Odd bodkins, Nukka, it was because of the low number of voters that the Big Orange Pumpkin Party got in. If more people had voted, we could have had a minority government and an Opposition to keep them in check. But NOOOOOOOO, apathetic dipsticks like yourself thought they were making a BIG statement by NOT voting when they could have gone to their voting station and wrote in ‘None of the Above’ under the candidates’ names.
Every argument against voting is nothing but a fucking copout.
Well hold on just a second TT.
“apathetic dipsticks like yourself thought they were making a BIG statement by NOT voting when they could have gone to their voting station and wrote in ‘None of the Above’ under the candidates’ names.”
I have feelings and you couldn’t be farther from the truth.
“Every argument against voting is nothing but a fucking copout.”
That is completely false and quite a ridiculous claim to make against me.
O.K., I’m stopping this shit storm before it even gets started.
What I have stated is my opinion and you’ve stated yours. Nothing was specifically aimed at you, Nukka. I’ll even apologize if I’ve offended your sensibilities. I have my reasons for my pro-voting attitude as you must have yours for your non-voting views. Have you ever voted? What soured you so on the process? Honestly, I’m curious.
Sooooooo…..who do you think’ll win?
We need someone like Angela Merkel to swoop to our rescue.
Was it Iran where people walked for several hours to wait several hours more to vote, all the while knowing that militants could end up shooting them? Or somewhere in sub-saharan Africa? Something like that.
Go vote, you ungrateful shit.
I think that’s the first post invasion elections in Iraq that you’re describing, SD. It also brings to mind the first elections in South Africa after the release of Mandela. It’s been a long time since we in the West have had to view the democratic process as something to fight and die for, but there are many parts of the world where that is,literally, the case. And while I do agree that not voting is an option, refusing to vote because you can’t do it from your computer terminal is downright pathetic.
http://download.lardlad.com/framegrabs/3F1…
“Yes. These hundred tacos should see me through the democratic process”
I knew as soon as Dexter put up the HST (one of the first fucking things he did) he was toast.
Dummy. Save the consumer tax hikes till you’re in ‘lame duck’ position! You obv failed ‘how to be in politics 101,’ Mr. Dexter.
Best case scenario in this election: a minority government and an opposition to keep them in check.
The Dippers were the author of their own demise – they bellied up to the provincial trough, liked what they gobbled up, figuring their turn had been long overdue. Funniest thing was watching skinny-mini Ministers grow billboard asses during their term once they realized how posh their meal allowance was.
One issue I hope that is addressed: gold-plated MLA pensions. Enough is fucking enough.
I made the mistake for voting the NDP. I thought it was The National Drug Peddlers.
There will definitely be a minority gov’t, fonebone, but it ain’t gonna be an NDP one. They just fucked up too badly and they know it. Just look at how long they hung on before calling an election. And look at how many ads (esp attack ads) they’re putting out. Way more than the other parties. Shit the other parties really only have to fight each other.
The NDP is done. Same ad bob ray’s ndp fiasco in ontario and same as what’s his face in BC. When will people learn that the NDP are best left in opposition because they aren’t equipped to form a [majority] government?
as far as the fed govt goes, liberal/dippers in power
Oh and Dexter acting like a hero because said he’d put the HST down 2%? Blasting the other parties that didn’t say they would? Fucking unbelievable! YOU’RE THE ONE WHO PUT IT UP IN THE FIRST PLACE, YOU DINK!
If these clowns are voted back in, NS has a serious case of stockholm syndrome.
We need a HRM party as almost 40% of the Province lives in or near to Halifax. Cut off rural places, tell them the money train doesn’t stop there any more, blow the fucking causeway up and let the Capers whine, their specialty.
This thread makes me want to leave nova scotia for ever.
Darrell Dexter was the best option to navigate the shitty economy felt world wide. Furthermore he was given a bag of shit from previous governments.
imagine stephen mcneil or jamie bailie in ottawa lobbying Stephen Harper on behalf of NS. They would get torn up. Hands down,.
The position NS is in now is one of development and progress and is the result very disciplined spending.
Things are just about to get better and we’ve already turned our backs on a government that you will one day realize we are privileged to have.
If the Liberals Or Cons win than iv lost faith in the province and im peacing the fuck out
/thread
The Dipsticks fought for decades on the issue of openness and accountability to be anything but when elected to power. They broke their promises and offered up their collective ass puckers to the big corps. The only good thing about the Dippers is that they pissed the unions off – hahahaha – love the irony.
The PCs suck urinal cakes because of their association with Harper’s robotic, crooked as a dog’s back leg henchmen. Who wants to support our Prime Minister’s twisted idea of Utopia? How stupid do we look as a country when our own PM sneers at funding scientific research?
The Liberals will win because they have a young, smiling, full-of-fresh-ideas Justin Trudeau on their Federal flag. Good or bad, there’s a pile of boomers out there who think he’s the reincarnation of his dear ol’ daddy.
This is simply my humble opinion on the current election – I’ve watched provincial politics for many decades, right back to when Nick Fillmore’s 4th Estate was published, Halifax’s subversive newspaper back in the 1970s. Every sacred cow was shot and skinned – mostly deserving politicians.
The current polls support a Liberal outcome as well. Wouldn’t I love to see the PCs in Opposition with the Dippers perched on some back bench orange crates. One can only wish.
With the time you took to write out this useless bitch, OB, you could have logged on to the online voting system and cast your vote by playing eenie-meenie-miney-moe and selecting anybody.
The PC leader looks like a cheap used car salesperson so he gets my vote.
I like Dexter as a person, but I can’t forgive him, politically, for the hike in consumer taxes. Plus that was a dumb move in terms of re-election.
As a centrist, I really have no party loyalities. I vote based on ideas, not blindly based on party loyalities. This election I’m voting to re-elect my current MLA because they are excellent in what the do for the people in my riding. If my MLA was party leader, their party would have this election locked up.
I’d like to see, at every announcement made by the Party Leaders, a camera behind the speaker to show how many, or few, actually attend these snoreapaloozas.
Dexter was so desperate that he had to have Marg Delacunty (Maureen the Social Worker) at his last borefest to add some credibility.
I think the Dippers are heading for a rout, I’d love Dexter to lose his seat.
Handing the NDP a defeat means handing the Bolshevik wing of the Party a moral victory. Lose Dexter (a Red Tory if there ever was one) and hand the party over to the social workers and non-tenured professors. Yikes! The way things are going, 2 terms are going to be a dim and pleasant memory for all parties. It will prevent the big problems from getting fixed but it may also prevent them from getting even fucked up.
Roll on Zombie Apocalypse.
“If you can’t be bothered to vote, you’re part of the problem, not part of the solution.”
This is nonsense. The Captain is actively protesting current political and economic systems, as well as developing new solutions to governing a populace. He’s part of the problem? The guy trying to change things? No. The problem is the lazy fuck who doesn’t get off the couch, not the ones who are doing things to change things.
The Captain, as well, will not be voting this round. Instead, as is usually the case, he’ll remain at home continuing his efforts at designing and implementing strategies to move our province (then the country, then the world) away from how it’s currently operating.
Like a child born into the hood and surrounded by crime, we have no choice when born into this political landscape. We had no part in its creation, although we are continuously blamed for it, but we WILL have something to say about it’s future.
This system is not our creation. We will not take responsibility. Instead, allow us to make something more reflective of the Earth as it is today, not as it was for hundreds of years.
“…for the hike in consumer taxes. Plus that was a dumb move in terms of re-election…”
Yeah, but maybe he’s a politician who’s more worried about doing the right thing than being re-elected? It’s pretty obvious raising taxes isn’t going to gain you much popularity, so why did he do it?
He obviously hates NS and wants to see us all suffer… obviously *eye roll*
I’d vote for Putin if he ran.
Stevie Boy, you took one body slam too many. There is no computer voting in this election.
Raising the consumer tax hurts the poor, Captain.
But at least the provincial portion of the tax on tampons was taken off, so I should be grateful, right?
I just find it rich that the dippers are using an hst cut in their platform as some big thing.
Also: go down to yarmouth and see how well loved Darrell is down there.
Jesus fuck!!! You wankers must learn your politics from attack adds. Blah blah, Dexter this, blah blah, Dexter that. I might even take you jokers seriously if every party since the dawn of democracy haven’t fudged the numbers to balance the budget, cheated a little on their entitlements, gave money to greedy corporations, etc…
The fact is that all parties are guilty of this.
I seem to remember the hatred for the McDonald government in 2008, so we elect the NDP with the expectation that everything will be fixed before noon on their first day in power. You are all a bunch of bandwagon jumping hypocrites that have to be angry about everything to feel alive. Fuck, our bills are paid, we have good jobs coming here with the ship building, construction is at an all time high in HRM, and I don’t even know 1 single person who doesn’t have a job. Not too bad in my books. You all make it sound like NS is circling the bowl.
All you old guys are to blame for the government being the way it is. You voted the wankers in and gave them the power to form what we youngins now have to clean up. In my view, nobody who is over the age of 50 has a right to complain. You’re the ones that ran up the debt, created the gold plated pensions you complain so much about, started corporate welfare, and brought the country to its knees with crippling debt. All of the countries woes fall squarely on the boomer generations shoulders. No one else’s, just yours. So when you spout off about this party sucking and that party sucking, all I hear is the clappity clap of your walkers on voting day, repeating the same mistakes you made before.
“Also: go down to yarmouth and see how well loved Darrell is down there.”
Oh right, because I forgot the election was a fucking popularity contest! Fucking stupid-as-shit Captain strikes again…. I forgot people use their emotions and the radicalized claims of the media to vote on election day, not logic and data.
You could say the same things about any number of politicians, about a myriad of reasons (all reasons that have been heard before and repeated throughout the millennium). SHITD said it, life ain’t so bad.
I’ll let George play us out…
http://cotocrew.files.wordpress.com/2012/1…
Well when you take away the driving force behind a community’s economy and then shove millions to industry in your hometown, I think it becomes much more than a popularity contest.
Like I said: I’m a centrist. The NDP have done some good and they’ve done some bad like all other parties. My point was that raising the consumer tax is like a nail in the coffin and pretty much fucks your chances of re-election. You can hide hikes in income taxes a lot easier than a hike in consumer tax. I mean, how many of us REALLY know the percentage in which we’re taxed on our income?
What rubbed me the wrong way was how, during the debate, Dexter went on about how he was going to drop the HST 2%, which the other parties wouldn’t do. Like he was some big hero. Well, it wouldn’t’ve needed dropping if he hadn’t raised it! If he lowers it (IF he gets back in) GREAT! But don’t act like you’re some goddamned hero saving us from the shit you shat on us 5 years ago.
I remember when DD got in, it didn’t take long for the party to take the ferry away in Yarmouth, and made that lovely town a ghostly one. One aspect is the money that was flowing through the economy in that town…Canadian/American dollars not to mention Tourism.Fours years later he wants it reinstated…I think it took him four years to finally realize what a boo boo that mistake was.
Well DD said his party would do things differently and people (not me) thought it was going to be for the better and right away things started going into the toilet, HST raised ferry cut (without a replacement to take over), and $100s of millions going to companies that failed.
If any of the leaders are interested in bringing businesses and people here they have to lower the taxes. Put the HST back to 13%, raise the exemptions in the tax returns to that of the Federal government, cut the red tape to open businesses and cut excesses in the civil service. Having reasonable to slightly lower taxes will attract both businesses and people here.
For example, when the shipbuilding contract starts, a welder is say offered $40/hr to work at the shipyards, why would a welder out west making the same amount, come back here just to pay higher taxes?
Umm…Tim, they will come back for the same reason that you stay and pay the higher taxes. I’m assuming that police work is the same out west as it is here, so I can only assume you stay because you “want” to, or your family and friends are here, or you plain just don’t like it out west, those are the same reasons that people will come back and pay the higher taxes. Most of the people I went to high school with went out west, honed their skills, and most of them are moving back as soon as they can.
Using your theory, Tim, there would be no one left here at all. I stay here, and in fact, left Alberta a long time ago and have no interest in going back. I’ll pay what I have to in taxes and inflated whatever to stay here, and so will thousands of like minded people.
Tax structures are ridiculous in Canada, overall. My mom makes 15k more than me, and our take homes after taxes is almost the same.
That’s just a big pile of crap. And after her raise this year, she’s actually in the hole because it bumped her up to the next bracket.
*shakes head*
I think she should be able to split more income over to my dad, a pensioner. She’d drop down two brackets, likely, if she could ffs.
Kitty,
You make more money, you pay more taxes. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don’t. Pay more into RRSPs and it will equal out.
Also, Dexter raised consumption taxes to clean up the mess that the previous govs left behind with their reckless spending. Wasn’t it the McDonald govt that lowered the HST and did nothing to counter the loss of revenue? They wasted the “windfall” from gutting our offshore revenues on dumb shit and election gifts. They’ve shown time and time again that they can’t be trusted. Then you have the Liberal dumbass that doesn’t even know how rich his own pension is, and sees no reason to change it. Playing stupid in a debate doesn’t sit well with me.
The only reason that I won’t be voting NDP will be because I don’t like the amount of money we will spend on Muscrat Falls, and the amount of savings on energy we will get for our investment. We take all the risk and get very little reward.
For the first time, I’m thinking about spoiling my ballot. None of these doughheads deserve my vote. You got the NDP with an actual platform and the other two platforms are that they aren’t the NDP, with some slightly different ideas on how to cut government spending. Nothing tangible about job creation, no new ideas about economic sustainability, no new ideas period, just a bunch of rhetoric and regurgitated crap from platforms of the past. How the fuck do you vote for the same shit that put us in the position we are in now?
Vote Captain?
I’ve some devious plans for NS that would work at least as well as what past governments have attempted…
Micro-Hydro power for small or rural communities?
Labour contract opportunities for social assistance families?
Community investment co-ops between Government, Private Corp, and People?
Government controlled insurance?
Government operated cellular service?
Excess or unemployed teachers operating in subsidized home school or community school programs?
Increased quality of Senior & Infant care through adoption of Japanese Health Care models?
Investment based tax systems?
The list goes on…
