Why is there no place to jam in Halifax!? Angry neighbors, noise complaints and the fact that there are NO businesses open to host a jam spot make it nearly impossible for local bands to practice. Not to mention hinder new bands from forming! THIS SUCKS! —Annoyed

ummm….the Rock Garden?
Rock Garden is no more.
if what today passes as music, i can see why there are no places to go.

I agree.
There’s a small niche market for someone who is willing to rent out vacant warehouse space to local bands.
I’ve seen this in other cities. Practice space rents by the hour, the way beer hockey leagues rent arena ice time. Bands can book regular practice times and even pay a small fee to store their equipment.
There would seem to be lots of possibilities in terms of spaces. Some of the smaller locations in Burnside Industrial Park come to mind, or maybe something closer to downtown.
With the right space and reasonable rates I think someone could make a go of it in Halifax.
Because it’s Halifax.
You’re right, Commandante. Especially with the absence of the Rock Garden (didn’t know it was closed).
Absolutely valid bitch. Now, where’s my sound-proofing tiles?? I’ll even throw in a classic DDA 24 channel analog soundboard for recording.
