No one ever told the locals that driving super slow and being courteous causes just as many accidents as super aggressive driving. Sorry Nova Scotians, this is one thing that the ‘super nice’ Maritime mentality doesn’t solve. —Stuck in the slow lane

  1. When I retire, I plan to spend my leisure hours driving around super slow at the rush hours, stopping in the rush hour no stopping lanes and pausing to let out every person trying to make a left turn from a side street on to a main artery make their turn. And I’ll be in your standard geezer mobile – a beige Camry. I can’t wait!

  2. Yeah, just as many accidents. Why can’t a fella drive his Dad’s lexus down Larch street at 70km/h in peace?

Any stats to back that up OP? When people drive slow, it’s the impatient, lead-footed idiots behind them that cause the accident. Speed kills!

  4. not to mention people don’t get as hurt…
going 40 in a 50 isn’t going to crash bang nearly as much as 60.

Though it does seem to annoy people more… which could lead to more people keeling over of high blood pressure… 6 of one, half dozen of the other I suppose.

  5. OP, you obviously never drove near me. I don’t let people merge in unless they have the right of way, I don’t slow down for stupid people, I don’t yield to jaywalkers, and bicycles get the horn to scare them.

  6. Funny thing, those slow drivers are likely driving the speed limit, yielding on amber lights, stopping on reds and at stop signs, using their blinkers and all those other courteous things are in fact obey the rules of the road trying their best to prevent accidents.

Why not you try it? Leave 15 – 30 minutes earlier for your appointment so you don’t need to turn your car into a time machine and think by keeping you lead on the gas you can get where you’re going before you left you parking space.

It is not the calm drivers but rather the drivers who get pissed off they have to use a brake pedal that causing accidents with the courteous drivers who are obeying the law.

  7. I think the letter monster gobbled up some of your sentence there Deotan…
you can’t always count on spell check to automatically give you the proper word replacement.

  8. You know what else doesn’t solve it?????????? PEOPLE LIKE YOU!!!!! Go to Ontario if you don’t like it. They act like arseholes there, you would fit right in.

  9. Baby back on the road Donk?

TOO courteous – You mean like stopping in the middle of an intersection, to let somebody (who has a red light) go? Yep, it happens.
