my first comment about moving here from another province is what the hell is up with buying a car and having to go all the fucking way out to bayers lake to get some god damned licence plates. really, that’s the only place for anyone in this whole city to have to go.
and now the second thing, and it’s government related also: went to buy a fishing licence. not only can one not do that like i am used to with a smart phone(yes other provinces you can do this online) but here you find a ‘vendor’ online and go to 5 stores, non of which have them, and then are told that even if you buy one now it will only last three more weeks, and then you have to buy a new one april 1st because you don’t get them for a year from the day you buy them, but for the fixed calender year that the ministry deems to be best for them. this in itself isn’t the fucking piss off, because really they aren’t that expensive, but the fucking joke that makes these assholes seem imbred is that the only place you can get a license this time of year is by driving all the fucking way to waverley. really. that’s worse than the god damned licence plate folks. looking forward to seeing my upcoming tax dollars spent on antiquated office sitting dog fuckers who can’t be bothered to do anything useful at all. urgg. —Warmly Welcomed Lover of Facetiousness

Fuckin’ A, Bubba. Try getting your license renewed when you don’t own a car. It’s a day off work, plus an inordinate amount of time sitting on, or waiting for the dreaded 52. Pack a good book and a can of bear spray.
hey, in Ontario I had to go to 3 different service Ontario buildings because I couldn’t get it all done in one place. I kept thinking how convenient it was at Access Nova Scotia. Get everything done at one place, and they also give you your permanent Nova Scotia photo driver’s license a couple minutes after taking the picture. In ON you get it in the mail, so I couldn’t go to the Beer Store until it showed up as it was my only photo ID.
There’s an Access Nova Scotia in Halifax, Dartmouth, and Sackville. You should have been here before that and it was on Young St with lines going out the building and halfway down the block.
True Tim. The one in Dartmouth is even more poorly served by public transit. And yes, I do remember the goat fuck that was Young St. It should have been left at West End Mall, but some swivel servant got it into his head that Access Nova Scotia should be an oxymoron.
yeah they moved the Dartmouth one, I took my daughter there last year for her renewal & its moved from by the stupor store to up the top of bakers drive by that Stellerton family store …I don’t believe the bus routes go up there ( I could be mistaken about that)
Small satelite ANS offices spread conveniently over HRM would solve the problems. The current 3 location system sucks. You wait forever. The locations are convenient to only those who live in the vicinity of them. The satelite office system alleviates long waits and travel times. But that would make way too much sense and actually work against the government mandate to inefficiency. Can’t have THAT, can we?
“Is a BIT backwards”, fuck, you’re too kind.
So did you use that smartphone like a real phone and call any of these five stores before going there? Would’ve saved so much time.
Agreed about Access Nova Scotia. Mumford was a great location for it. Why the fuck did they move it to Bayer’s lake? It’s not even in Bayer’s lake, it like at the extended new part that is in the middle of fucking nowhere.
Then once you get there you’re assaulted by the factory made Walmart paintings.
The Mumford location closed due to the lease. I have never waited more than 20 min at any of the locations for service. Of course I don’t wait til the last day of the month to do business.
The 57 goes to Baker Dr.
Yeah. This place is fucked on the most part. Nice in the summer though.

Now you’ve done it – told the locals that you moved here from another province. Go back where ya came from they’ll say – but leave your tax dollars to fund our unemployment.
For those of you who like me live half way from Halifax & another area with a Registry …(I am within a kilo or 2 of the Truro one, compared to Dartmouths) It does no good to try away from the city , the last time I was in truro to register plates the place was jammed solid, you couldn’t even get a car into their parking lot .
do i live in the same province as you guys or what? first went to access ns when it was at mumford in 2007, then again couple years later. both times had at most a 10 minute wait. friendly service. one stop shop. super.
next few times with license renewal, swapping cars and stuff were at the new bayers location. went in the morning once, afternoon, evening once. never more than a 10 minute wait. lots of parking. nice people. i forgot a manilla envelope of receipts and stuff there and got it returned to me in the mail.
what????
More, what time of the month?
