To the fucking jackass in the black leather jacket walking down Spring Garden Road threatening people: FUCK YOU, YOU PIECE OF SHIT for making me not feel safe in my own city. I hope somebody eventually takes you up on your challenge and beats you to within an inch of your life so you can live out your remaining years as a fucking brain-dead vegetable. It’s not like you would be contributing any less than you already are, fuckhead. —Sick of this Violent Fucking City

  1. Rather than give in to a culture of fear, you should make the effort to appreciate the diversity of our community. Join us at the Library for “Wear A Black Leather Jacket Day” , this Saturday 9:00 – 2:00

  2. The only thing to fear is fear itself. Walk proudly, dumbshit be damned. This is your city as well.

  3. Seriously, this is not a violent city. Not once have I felt threatened in the 5 years I have lived here. And I’m out and about in the North End all the time.

The experience that you’ve described happen on occasion in every city. I’ve felt a lot less safe in small NS and NB towns that I’ve ever felt here.

  4. He probably has a mental illness. People usually don’t go around threatening people like that out of the blue unless there is a mental breakdown of some sort.

  5. Shit hole doesn’t begin to describe SGR… bums every 5 feet asking for money as they smoke their cigarettes; sandwich boards which force you into snowbanks or onto the street; a lack of political will to deal with the problem; and, a business association which cowtows to allow all this nonsense. Nasty street it is… nasty!

  6. Buddy, if you think Halifax is violent, go hang out in Winnipeg or Hamilton or something.

    Seriously.

  7. SGR has panhandlers, but they are harmless. Honestly, SGR is one of the most populated and well-lit streets in Halifax. Anyone who doesn’t feel safe there is simply not accustomed to urban living.

  8. This is clearly a case of black leather jacket shaming. I will bet that there was no threatening of people.

  9. What an odd day… no new bitches by 1pm and the bus driver has the air conditioning running…! Wait… I’m in Halifax… silly me!
