So I’m trying to sell my car. should be easy right? It’s only a couple of years old, great condition, not to many kms on it….WRONG!!
I posted it on Kijiji. I posted it on Facebook. I even posted it on freaking dalhousie by and sell on the off cahnce some student has money. and what do I get? Responses telling me that they’ll ‘take it off my hands’ for about half if not less my asking price!
that is not bartering people that’s being insane!

yes I know everyone wants a good deal. but be reasonable! I need the money too, and the cars not a junker, so why do you profess that you’d love to own it, if only I’d give it to you for 2000 instead of 5000, which is actually cheaper than similar cars I’ve seen listed????/

selling rule #1 – something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. You will get lots of low ball offers from people who aren’t even serious right out of the gate. Accept all the 2k offers. I’d be willing to bet no one shows up to take the car. Kijiji is full of trolls who just see it as a sport to hagle with people. They are probably not interested in buying anything from you, they just want to see how low they can get you to go then you’ll never hear from them again. People have all the balls in the world via email, get them face to face and they choke ( most of them ) on their words when its time to talk price. sales and negotiation is an art form my friend. Don’t let the low ballers get you down.
Yeah, but on the other end of the coin expect $500 difference in what you are asking and what people are offering.
Don’t even get me started on selling cars on Kijiji. I posted a car in teh 10K range on there, on teh off chance that someone looking for this rarer (yet not tricked out) sporty car might have the cash for it as it was a kind of “cult car”. After a few of the usual “youll never get that for it” emails I decided the hell with it, to trade it in at a little less than I wanted to sell it for just for the sake of getting rid of it. I had someone with the gaul to see it for sale on the dealer lot where I traded it (recognized it because it was a very recognizable car) and send me email after email telling me how much of a loser I was for letting the dealer rip me off, and how he was going to goto the dealer and buy it for cheaper than I wanted in a private sale. He said he woudl send me pictures once he bought the car. Luckily, I knew my sales person and called and asked if there was a douchebag in looking at the car that week adn there was no one. Moral of the story, people around here have nothign better to do but bitch about you when you have something that they can not afford. They get jealous and make themselves feel better for it. And, this douche that kept harrassing me used his real name, which is also listed in the phone book. And by the looks of it, his work email. I bet he gets a lot of great advertisements for penis enlargers, pornogrpahy and medication now in his in box!

That’s not true. I bought two cars from Kijiji. One was a real clunker. It was a piece of shit car and I was glad to get it towed away. The second car was a dream to drive, although there is a slight electrical glitch in the diagnostic system dut fuckit. If someone is looking for a car, if you are selling more than 10k then you might as well go to a dealer and have the car certified, taxes paid and temporary permit out the bat. Fuck, even over 5k and I am looking at a dealer (which coincidentally happened since a dealer advertised on kijiji after getting nailed with jacked up prices for shitty cars). You don’t know from adam what you are getting from a private sale. A dealer means you get to report them. Shit I know of some scumbags that sell the car at one location and never show up there again. Goodbye 4k…What was I going on about? Oh yeah, say no to drugs!
ah! that has happened to me so many times i totally feel you!i put a new camera plus a memory card case and a rechargable battery set for 150, and some guy emaild me telling me he would give me 20$ for it…. if i wanted 20$ for my 300$ camera plus 100$ worth of accesories i would have listed that as the price…!
I just took over a leased vehicle advertised on Kijiji. I took over the payment as the car was a sweet deal and I didn’t want a full lease term. So, Kijiji does work for some. The person I got the vehicle from did say they had two “time wasters” jerk their chain but she kept at it. I also picked up two tickets in the lower bowl, last minute, for a concert when I couldn’t find the tickets I bought for my daughter’s birthday. She was expecting to go to the concert and little kid’s don’t understand when you lose things so Kijiji really saved my butt there. So, don’t give up on Kijiji.
