Canada Goose parkas were built for the Canadian Arctic. They are Canadian-made, superb quality, extra-durable parkas, because they’re meant for -40° winters. As someone who is moving to the arctic soon, I have made a down payment for one of these parkas. A down payment… because they cost over $500!! So why, people of Halifax, are you wearing them in -2°? There is such a thing as too much jacket, and Canada Goose is too much jacket for Halifax. Just because they’re expensive doesn’t mean they’re a status symbol. Fucking morons. —Glad to leave this place

  1. Yeah, Halifax, don’t waste the down of the poor, little Canadian gooses on a body that feels cold when it should be reserved for the frigid bitch.

Have a good trip, you little plucker.

  2. Financing with low interest rates for Canadian Goose jackets. Seriously, who puts a down payment on something as cheap as a jacket?

  3. Some of us who had numerous operations and have to wait at 6 am for a bus in -17 wind chill need a jacket like this one. I did not buy mine for a fashion statement, so please do not dump all Canada Goose jacket owners into the same category as the fashion driven owners.

  4. My body doesn’t effectively regulate its own temperature.. anything below plus 5 and my teeth will chatter in a parka. my canada goose coat actually allows me to go outside, be active, do things, and not suffer from depression all winter and embarassment at my “weakness” to cold. also, i earned my $500 and if i want to wipe my ass with it, it shouldn’t bother you.

i know you are paying $500 and since you obviously can’t afford it at once (whut) you want to feel like you’re getting your money’s worth by ALSO getting with your jacket a smug sense of superiority over everyone else who owns one, but sorry. everyone owns them for different reasons — some are for fashion — and they’re all legitimate reasons. unless they stole it, it shouldn’t fucking concern you.

  5. PK, I do believe that PETA opened an office in Thompson, but they all froze to death in the first cold snap 😮 (jk).
People who have spent, literally, tens of thousand of years living on the Ice, can’t be wrong about what keeps you warm.

OB, with the wind chill, Nova Scotia often sees -40c . I think that the arctic get a little cooler than that, or are you thinking of using your Canada Goose as a spring/summer jacket?

Frig, it was like spring out there today, 2 hours on the beach playing with the dogs 🙂

  6. Is this b!tch about people wearing a jacket that may be too “winter” for Hali or about paying $500 for a jacket?

Jeezus, I have over 20 jackets and over half of those fuckers were well above $500 each…so should I run for cover every time you see me?

  7. come on now, everyone knows that rabbit fur is the warmest. all you have to do, is hang 50 or 60 rabbits around your body, and viola, instant warmth. fuck ain’t i smurt?

  8. If I want to wear a goose down jacket I will. If I want to wear a leather and/or fur coat, I will. If I want to go out in just Speedos, I will (don’t worry I won’t). Bottom line OB just fuck off. We are free to wear what we want or can afford.

  9. but bro tim, i wanna be a nudist, and the law says i can’t wear my bday suit out in public. is that fair to me, or all the nudists on here, right gang?

  10. LS you’re right it’s not fair. It also seems that having to pay for water and electricity is unfair too. And it’s unfair that everyone in prison are really innocent and should never have gone in.

  11. for $500 bucks, I’d expect the jacket to be made of pure, 100% grizzly.
with my face coming out of the mouth…
and woven gold fabric on the inside…

    that’d be bad ass…

  12. I never really noticed them but now that you mention it, I decided to check out the website…

oooh… the Montebello parka in plum…. my wallet hates you, OP.

  13. it’s ok… just grab it at the bar when they leave it unattended.
you get a jacket… and we get the inevitable bitch that follows.

  14. Ha ha, tralala! We have the same taste in jackets, that’s the EXACT one I was eyeing earlier. My boss bought one this fall and was showing it off to me, I had no idea why it was so special until I hear people bitching about them/price/status symbol (which is why my boss bought one).

Anyway, apparently their a really well known and respected canadian company, but their products really were meant for artic expeditions initially – now they’re hopping on the money train, ie: people with more money than brains. It’s brilliant business sense, really.

  15. I just bought a new winter coat last week, a long down-filled one with a fur (probably fake) collar. And it cost me $40 at the Sears outlet store. It is warm, light (got I hate super heavy winter coats) comfortable and I like it. Frig status symbols. But, if someone wants to waste their money why not – I’m sure someone believes I’m wasting my money on an iphone, or shoes, or something else. What difference does it make?

  16. Who cares what others are wearing. Be secure enough in yourself to not care about others appearance.

    Ralmn…good pick!!

  17. actually, when an item is expensive it does make it a status symbol. It has been this way since the dawn of man. There are other jackets out there that are just as effective in cold weather and atleast 200$ cheaper.

  18. raim it does look like a nice toasty little investment doesn’t it!!

Anyway it’s all about doing our part to support the Canadian economy. 🙂

  19. There’s absolutely no way I’d spend $500 on a fucking winter jacket. A nice leather jacket, on the other hand…

  20. Maybe they’re COLD you fucking ass. Good riddance and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

  21. We’re happy to lose you, OP. In case you forgot, it was -16 feeling like -25 a couple weeks ago. Are we allowed to wear warm clothes then, dear King?

  22. Canada Goose jackets are the new lulu lemon hoodie. That means they are the knee jerk purchase of people who get their fashion info from the globe and mail. In case anyone thinks they are “hip” or “trendy” by wearing these played out jackets, they were featured as the “it” fashion item during a CTV morning show during the olympics LAST YEAR. Which as we all know is a great place to get up to the minute fashion advice. Oh, and the fake ones look extra tacky, and yes it is totally obvious.

  23. Fashion is like a dog-sled team, if you’re not leading the pack, you’re just following a bunch of assholes.
