Non-smokers (and militant ex smokers) just don’t get it.
Okay, there is this ad about a kid who’s father died as a result of smoking. It is supposed to get you to quit smoking. My girlfriend is a smoker, and I quit recently. We both had the exact same response to the ad. I need a smoke. I didn’t give in to it,

I have to agree with you- never really gave it much thought-but you are exactly right. 90% of the commercials are geared to “scared” you into quitting. which really only works for a very short term. And I do love that patch commercial- I can totally relate!
Hey man,I too love that commercial with the airline freaking out. Doesn’t make me want to quit either though – I think that Ad agencies have delusions about exactly how much power they wield.I kind of liked the Fubar ones too though, just because they remind me of Albertans.
Makes me think of the ‘scared straight’ trend of the 70s.Non-smokers who think it’s easy to quit probably still believe in the tooth fairy.
