Dear Family of Elephants That Live Above Us,

You clearly have children, and have decided to forgo any form of parenting and allow them to behave like little shits. I can tell based on the level of noise that comes from above me. I can hear your children running back and forth, back and forth, jumping onto and off of the furniture. I can also hear you stomp around in your boots and move furniture around at ten o’clock on a weeknight for some obscure reason.

I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume that you have no idea how loud you’re being. But my god, man! I don’t think it takes an intelligence contest to winner to realize that perhaps the level of noise you and your family create may be unacceptable.

I’m one boot stomp away from complaining to the superintendent. I don’t want to, because I don’t want to be one of “those” people, but enough is enough and I’m tired of being woken up all hours of the night because you’ve decided to reconfigure your bedroom layout.

  1. Slide a little note under their doorway. Make sure to keep it anonymous, as such a note can get you evicted. Failing that, go to your super/landlord. I think though, they probably don’t give a damn.

  2. Really? I didn’t realize a note like that could get you evicted… because it seems nicer than going straight to the super…

  3. Hmm, we must live above you. I’m always saying that we shouldn’t rearrange the furniture that late, but, well, I get outvoted. No kids though, must just be our TV. Sorry about that.

  4. I’m pretty sure if you just went up and said “hey, I’m your downstairs neighbour, I don’t want to bother you but your noise has been keeping me awake a lot. I know you probably don’t realize it so I thought I’d mention it instead of going to the super.” They’ll likely be glad you didn’t go to the super, and be more respectful in the future.

On a side note: there is nothing worse than having a cell phone or some kind of alarm on vibrate on the floor above you when the upstairs neighbours have gone away for the weekend. Damn thing went off every 10 minutes until the battery died.

  5. hollah! if you live below me that may have been my toy… sometimes I don’t realize I hit it and it vibrates all day when I’m out… I’m reaally sorry if it is.

  6. Talk to them. Do that first. If you go to the super first, that is just a douche move. Give them time to correct their actions before going to the next level. That’s just common decencey. They may not know that they are making that much noise and may just need someone to point it out.

I have been on both sides of this. When I was noisy and not aware, I was really appreciative of my neighbours coming to me first. There was no hard feelings and I changed my ways.

However, being on the complaining end can be intimidating. Who knows how your neighbour will react. When I complained, they told me they would make more noise just for spite. So, when they did I went to the super and when that did not stop, I called the cops. Eventually, they got evicted because all the neighbours complained.

Just make sure you talk to them first.

  7. Ms.Lala, what DIDN’T you say?

“…if you live below me that may have been my toy… sometimes I don’t realize I hit it and it vibrates all day when I’m out…”

Your toy vibrating all day, ehh? Scandalous!

  8. LIFE SUCKS can help you meet those needs. I don’t know what the hell is taking him so long, though… careful buddy, she’s mine if you don’t get here in the next half hour!

  9. Old, me? Not even close! 24.

Are you old? Ugly? Fat? Not to be a shallow prick or anything… hey, lots of women don’t like old, ugly, fat bald guys, which will be me some day, but thankfully not yet.

Pending your reply, tying up the running shoes now…

  10. lol… I’m 26, not ugly and not fat but not skinny either.. I’m curvy for sure… generally into black guys… but I’m not judgmental lol

  11. lol like I said, I don’t judge… GENERALLY doesn’t mean always lol… but whatever, you’re into what you’re into

  12. if you lived under me, that would be my two cats. they sound like little elephants when they play chase at night.but i know you don’t live under me, uness you are a troll.

  13. Why do all the fat chicks call themselves curvy ?
    or my favorite…voluptuous . (which means big & I suppose curvy 😉
My favorite new discriptve word for ‘fat’ is pouffy…I saw it not to long ago I suppose it must have come form somewhere like the micheline man…he’s poofey, seeing as he’s made out of inner tubes or rounded tires or some such .

  14. what is the matter more? are you a fatty fat hater…better curves than boney bits of gristle

  15. Sometimes when women say they’re curvy they actually are… There’s a difference between having a phat ass and being shaped like the blueberry girl in Willy Wonka. Sometimes it’s good to have some cushion for the pushin, y’know?

  16. Boy, I hope q did a post check…there’s a whole long litany defending the rights of transgendered people on there! is it too late, is he gone?

  17. Pain girl If i can lift ’em…I’ll F^(# ’em.
And I can pick a chain motor out of a box with one arm, & that’s 150 lbs +.
I just don’t get it, your a big girl…be proud.
I’ve got nothing against skinny girls either & have nothing but fond memories of the 95 lb nurse who took me back to her place the first week I was seperated from my wife of 20 years…set ’em on top & spin them around…she was thin, she was petite, mostly I remember she was very sweet !

  18. I’ll never live below anyone – I rent single standing houses. I can’t stand living under someone . sometimes it’s just living regular noise they really can’t help – hey bottles fall and shit and knock the floor . Never again would I live under anyone . Single house or top floor all the way !!!

  19. 95lb nurse? Was it that midget on TLC? 95lbs is not healthy for an adult…
Curvy does not equal fat. Women are supposed to be curvy not stick straight! Too bad there’s not more guys who appreciate that! When I’m checkin out women I never give the stick figures a second look…ewwwe

  20. LIFE SUCKS… yeah a toy…

Lorilulu I totally agree… when I’m checkin out a woman I never look at the stick figures who look like they’ll break the second you want to do anything fun

  21. I think your waist should be about the same as half your height…
that’s about the ‘not too skinny but still curvy’ range I’m thinkin.

if you’re as tall laying down as you are standing up, you’re a fat ass….

  22. zZz I like the way you put that “I think your waist should be about the same as half your height…
that’s about the ‘not too skinny but still curvy’ range I’m thinkin.”
I’m a little less then that but i’m tall so it works.

  23. well I was trying to come up with a ratio (being the mathy type I am) rather than some arbitrary figures…. or silly rhetoric.

that means a 6 footer should have a 36 inch waist, which I think is about right for both male/female… and 30 inch waist for a 5 footer. Since the majority of the population resides in there it’s a good ballpark though (like BMI and all those other quick calculations) it gets flawed when you get to extremes both large and small.

like, I’m just over that so I look a little overweight but not much…
but my bmi says I’m obese… and not just a little obese.
according to BMI, I should be “confined to a scooter and use a bedpan regularly” obese.

  24. According to BMI, I’m underweight. Woo hoo to being a scrawny little stick man! But hey, apart from my protruding bones, it’s all muscle, baby.

  25. Lorilulu, she was about 5 ft tall, & said she’s always been that size. She liked how once she wanted bigger boobs, but now that she’s older she likes how hers are still perky, & the larger chested girls are feeling/ showing the effects of gravity on those larger breasts ~:)

  26. “”but my bmi says I’m obese… and not just a little obese.
according to BMI, I should be “confined to a scooter and use a bedpan regularly” obese.”‘

    hahaha
You’re right though…the definition of “obese” has been widened to now include a 6 footer at 200 pounds (meself), so I’ll be getting one of those scooters too, bro’.

In fact, I can hardly wait…I’ve wanted to legally ride my scooters/minibikes around for years…now I can. Also, we should get IV bottles with “sip tubes”, lol ” fiiled with vodka.

And who’s gonna ask a poor ole obese cripple to put out his fag? Not you lot!

    Where do i sign up?

  27. Yea only way to avoid this is to make sure you have a concrete constructed floor in the building . Otherwise – move on the top floor or rent a house !!!

  28. PS skinny chicks are ok – but no guy wants to bash his nuts apart on bones !!!! I’d rather the curvy chicks with abit of meat on her bones – way more better !!!

  29. Why not get THEM to move?
    It’s easy.

Download THIS MP3, rent a medium sized PA from Musicstop, erm, L&M, whatever…
and play it 5 times a day, LOUD…more if it suits you, who’s counting?

Of course in todays PC world, no-one least of all the cops are gonna come mess with you when THEY hear it…so the offending party will soon put in their notice, trust me.

  30. haha bmf

I use to live in a Muslim country and woke up to that every morning at 5:30?am. It was great in a panicked fall out of bed sort of way.

  31. I used to be friends with a sound guy who lived in Halifax.
He was having an ongoing problem with a really loud neighbor, who lived next door to him in a 2 apartment/converted house…so he put a CD of the ‘Music from the International Tattoo’ on his system, turned it up to annoy & went to Cuba for 2 weeks.
When he came home he just claimed it was an oversite, & hadn’t realised it.
I can’t remember how he got around having changed the locks so the landlords keys wouldn’t work & they had to wait for a locksmith to get in to turn off the stereo.
    He’s dead & gone now,so I can’t ask him.
    I miss him.
