It’s strawberry season in Nova Scotia; time for some homegrown heady goodness! I went to the grocery store, hoping to score some sweet treats, only to find California strawberries! Will somebody tell me what the #$%* is going on!!?? Not at one store, not at two, but at three f’n stores!! Why are they selling tasteless USA berries when we have the best right here, right now!!?? The dirty bastards are sneaking in and pretty much ripping off local businesses, and the grocery stores are helping them do it! (And lining their own pockets in the meantime). I guess if I want some NS strawberries I have to go pick them myself you lousy f’n traitors!

Not to mention the cost to ship the berry’s from California and the greenhouse gases emitted getting the berry’s to Nova Scotia. Their product is gruel you wouldn’t feed to starving shit flies.
I was glad to see NS berrys in the sobeys in Antigonish this past weekend. But I totally agree that the ones they sell in Halifax suck balls and they should bring in local berrys. I would def pay more if I had to, to get strawberrys that taste like strawberrys in Halifax
I’ve actually bought NS strawberries at Halifax grocery stores. The only thing is you have to be quick as they sell out just as quick as they come in!
I was in Sobey’s the other day, and they had a few containers of ns strawberries…but half of them were mouldy! it was gross! so I sneakily picked through and made my own pint of non-disgusting berries….but if this isn’t your game, go down to the farmers market either in Halifax or out int he boons…tons of berries there and nicer people 🙂
Walked into Sobeys this afternoon and the first thing I saw was NS strawberries……
