The purpose of the Jazz fest is to promote local music and encourage Haligonians to get out and enjoy music, right? Shouldn’t we, under 19ers, be entitled to go as much as anyone else? Hell, we can go to a pub for lunch, without a guardian, where people are drinking beer all around us, and no one gives a toss… but when it’s a concert, it’s a huge no-no. Come on. Jazz originated in bars where alcohol was consumed illegally anyway. —Angry Future Jazz Fest Performer

From the Liquor Control Act:

(4) Except as authorized by the regulations, the holder of a tavern license, beverage room license, lounge license or cabaret license shall not permit a person who is under the age of nineteen years to be or remain in the tavern, beverage room, lounge or cabaret. R.S., c. 260, s. 89; 1990, c. 33, s. 1.
From the NS Liquor Licencing Regulations:

45 Except as prohibited in Section 47, a person who is under 19 years old may enter and be in a premises for which a tavern license, beverage room license, lounge license or cabaret license is in effect until 9:00 p.m. if all of the following conditions are met:

(b) full meal service is provided in the licensed premises;
(c) the person enters the licensed premises for the purpose of eating a meal.
So Angry, you are either lying to us or the premise you are frequenting is breaking the law. If you and your friends were without an adult, the the Jazz Fest was right not to allow you to enter.
HAHAHAHAH! Yeah… that’s the REASON why you’re not allowed… you’re too YOUNG!
It’s NOT a bar op, it’s an event with a tenuous license at best.
Don’t worry. You’ll grow into life eventually. In the meantime, read up on how the law works.
Think of it this way. You can go into a bar when they’re serving food. Imagine a bar where one half serves food and the other half is strictly for people who are drinking. You’re not allowed in the other half.
Think of it like this.
And btw, the fact that you use illegal consumption of alcohol as a way to apply pressure to the law is one of the reasons why you have some growing up to do.
Plus… no offense but people drinking don’t want to have to worry about babysitting a bunch of underage kids. We don’t WANT to have to deal with a pack of teenagers. We’re in there because it’s the one place that’s adults only and, sorry, but to someone in their mid 20s or 30s or older YOU ARE LITTLE KIDS that are loud, annoying and a total liability. That may be a stereotype. And to that i say, welcome to adulthood.
