Dear people: parking in a clearly marked NO PARKING zone is illegal. Oh, what you have your four-way flashers on? Oh, ok, that suddenly make it OK and makes the law go away. The signs and the law applies to me as it does to you. Read the signs and get out of the way. —Signs signs everywhere signs

  1. Did this effect you on your travels? If it didn’t effect you in anyway other than annoy you then you should get a parking enforcement job and nab them all

  2. I hope the idiots got ticketed. Haligonians have the worst sense when it comes to parking in proper spots.

  3. Lol, another citizen on patrol law enforcer. YOU’RE NOT ABOVE THE LAW. YOU’RE NOT ABOVE THE LAW. YOU’RE NOT ABOVE THE LAW.

What are you repeating it for? Yourself?

  4. You have a camera on your cell phone, take a picture. I saw a lady pull into the handicap parking lot at Sobeys. When she got out I told her it was a handicap spot and she just flipped me the bird and then run into the store. I took pictures of the front and back and called HRM police. I had to email the photos and guess what, the officer said she was in violation, her plate was not registered as having a handicap permit, and thus would be getting a ticket. Silly bitch deserved it.

  5. I’m surprised the officer would comment about her plate details to sebastian_ as it clearly violates the privacy laws in NS. The only way the info should be made public is when a conviction is entered by the courts (or pleading guilty by paying the fine).

  6. Getting a ticket does not violate privacy laws. It’s not as if the officer told me her name, address, age, number of moles, etc. The only info exchanged were the photos of her plate and parking in a handicap spot. The officer agreed she was in violation of the law.

  7. I didn’t say getting a ticket violates the privacy, his stating details that are not apparent on the plate to the general public does. That includes any conditions or exemptions that aren’t printed on the plate or displayed on the vehicle. His stating the plate wasn’t registered as having a handicap permit is telling you something that is none of your business, thats the business of the owner and law enforcement.

Had he simply said he was issuing a ticket for the parking in a handicapped spot that would have been fine, but according to you he stated details about the vehicle’s registration to you – thats not allowed.

BTW the officer can claim she was in violation of the law but he doesn’t have the final say. That’s why we have a legal process here – to let the courts decide when a ticket is contested. It wouldn’t be the first time a ticket was issued in error.

  8. You guys find the most minor points you can to argue, the point here is the signs apply to all of us not just a select few. People will always feel they are more important than others and will do as they do, who gives a fuck, flying or otherwise, what a supposed police officer told you over the phone? Geezus get back to the OPs issue.

  9. yeah, really it is theirs, they paid for it in tax money, same as you or annyone else. just that the person decided to claim that particular one, i will claim mine next week, maybe.

  10. Ohhhhhh… big bad f’in Bluenoser is telling us what to do 🙂 Why not do the same as most other people – don’t like what’s posted? don’t read it!

  11. What’s worse than a traffic cop? A wannabe traffic cop! Take it into a bit of perspective. Sometimes it’s just practical and causes little if any harm to briefly park in a “No Parking” area. I’m talking about dropping off / picking up friends, quickly running in to grab something, etc. Get off your high horse!

  12. qpmzwonxeibcruv , try running that one past a police officer and then get back to us on what they tell you. Enjoy your next parking ticket. I hope people report you too. 🙂

  13. A quick drop off / pick up is one thing, but blocking the street as you’re parked in a no parking zone for extended periods of time is another. These signs are in place for a reason, usually because parking there will somehow impede the flow of traffic. Laws apply to all of us, not just a select few.

  14. sebastian – qpmzwonxeibcruv is right! How many cops have you actually seen stop, get out of their cars to give someone a ticket that is parked with 4 way flashers on (in a loading zone, no parking area, or outside a business) Even if it’s somewhere they shouldn’t be parked. The only time I have seen this is “sometimes” on Quinpool road at 430 during traffic hour.
Couriers would never deliver anything if they had to look for a legit parking stop everytime.

  15. Fucking wanna be vigilanties… Do you really have so much time on your hands you have to report others for parking somewhere they’re not supposed to??? Pathetic… (hanicapped spots not included)

People these days have to learn to mind their own fucking business. Unless if affects your commute, who gives a shit? Same with you morons whom feel the need to not let others pass your slow ass. YOUR NOT A COP…

And yes I talk on a cell phone and drive too, Please, please say something to me while doing it like that other poor bastard… I’ve been doing it for YEARS with no accidents/issues. So spare yourself the time and stay the fuck out of it.

    Fuck…

  16. LOGiC – I do have the time on my hands to deal with idiots like you, because I value my safety and the safety of others around me. Parking in no parking zones can cause accidents because a huge-ass car is somewhere where it isn’t supposed to be. The no parking zones are there for a reason! They keep traffic flowing in a safe manner. As for talking on a cell while driving…. can’t afford a hands free gadget? Do you butt in line at the movies too? Park on the sidewalk?

  17. Clearly its the idiots telling you to mind your business that are parking in these spots.

  18. Love the pic Lukin….very nice

L0GiC, I seriously hope you get fined repeatedly for jabbering on your stupid cell in your car… before you sideswipe someone or clip a cyclist.

  19. Lol morons, I acctually do have a bluetooth, so yes Im quite able to afford one. And no, I dont butt in line at the movies nor Park on the sidewalk.

Im quite comfortable with the breif conversations I make on the phone when driving as I stated have been doing it for quite a few years now. Just becuase people are looking for reasons as to why people are terrible drivers doesnt bother me. There are worse things out there than driving while talking. I mean do you honestly think its the act of holding the phone that takes the concentration? Gimme a break… If your too stunned to talk on the phone while driving you shouldnt be bluetoothing it either. Dont get me started on the morons who eat, check themselves out in the mirror (makeup hair etc…)

If you idiots want to stop talking on the phone altogether, fine ill comply. But as for the idotic current law? Blow me…

And zZz, never got a fine, never hit anything. So keep hoping…

For the record I’m acctually quite respectful of others (maybe not so much on a net board), but its stupid to assume you know what’s going on in the life of whomever parked illegally. If I seem touchy its due to the idiot who lost their mind at me for parking illegally while rushing to a place where a family member had been seriously injured. OH PLEASE FORGIVE ME from bloacking your fucking idiotic loading zone for 10 mins…

  20. IF it says no parking (& IMO there are way to many places with that stupid sign) & you stop & put your flashers on & go in & grab something, your not really parking, your loading, so you’ve got a minute or so. I find the real problem is some areas have No Stopping signs. With a NO Stopping sign, it’s pretty clear you’re not suppose to stop never mind park or load.

Now with the summer coming I was in Halifax on Sunday & I see all the greasy spoons are putting their ‘patio’s’ up & taking away even more parking spots. Show your support for that by making sure you don’t spend a cent in a place who has taken away parking in the downtown. I know I will.

  21. Logic, i’ve got no problem with Patio’s, I just don’t believe that they should have the right to close down parking places to put them in. Look at the Palace, they put in a raised patio & no parking spots were removed.
Seems kind of stupid, you want more customers, yet you shut down places for them to park & then complain about so many people going to the Malls ! (where there’s free parking & lots of it !!)
