I can’t take it any longer. People who say “It is what it is” need to have red hot pokers jammed up their nostrils until their brain melts. Everyone knows it is what it is. If it wasn’t then it would be something else.

You think you’re so smart and look so smug as if you’ve said something comparable to the Magna Carta and yet you’ve really said nothing at all. In fact, it reveals your incredible lack of understanding and intelligence about whatever is being discussed. It doesn’t contribute anything to the topic at hand but you think you’ve summed it up brilliantly when you’ve only exposed your ignorance and complete lack of insight.

If you do have anything intelligent to contribute why not express that instead of belittling whatever input you might have and insulting the intelligence of those within earshot. —Heisenberg has left the building

  1. or maybe…just maybe, they have gotten sick of your bullshit banter, acting like you know everything, and feel they couldnt possibly take anymore without sounding like a douche like you and just gave up.

  2. IF you can’t take it any longer…ask him to not go so deep !
While it is possible that it truely is, what it is. There’s always the possibility that what will be will be ~;p

I’ve been up since 9 am yesterday & still I am not able to sleep. But I’m really not complaining, it is what it is, you know !?

  3. I think they’re trying to tell you that all of your bitching and moaning isn’t going to change anything so you should probably just shut up… like in this case, for example.

  4. Personally, I say “it is what it is” when I have tried and tried to make sense of something and come to the conclusion that I can’t explain it any further. Kind of goes hand in hand with “what can you do?” Or “fuck it”……

How do you truly explain those that claim “it is what it is” OP? Cause it truly IS what it is.

  5. That was actually a strategy I employed at the Bank when somebody had a customer service issue. It was a great way to make it look like I cared, when I really didn’t.

  6. jonno… you certainly get it.
You can’t change ‘it’ or explain ‘it’ or define ‘it’ any more than you have and still aren’t sure what ‘it’ really is. so ‘it’ gets its own category.

    ‘it’ is what it is.

generally though… ‘it’ fucking sucks and you do this just so you don’t dwell on ‘it’ anymore.

  7. I hate when people say this as well. It’s mostly because of the horrible judge shows I used to watch. Like People’s Court…every time someone lost and that awkward guy with the mic would ask them how they felt, it was always “It is what it is”, and I would yell. I don’t miss having cable :D.

  8. “I used to be with it, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’, and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary.” -Granpa

So what is it if what it is isn’t it any longer and is some other it? Is it still what it is or is it something else? So whether it is what it is or no longer is it, RUN!

  9. “it is what it is” is a phrase commonly used to extract oneself from a conversation or debate that one no longer wants to be a part of. It’s also a way to end an argument that one feels is irreconcilable. The phrase is not meant to be taken literally. OP appears to be incapable of understanding simple non-literal phrases, and of picking up on blunt social cues.

  10. “it is what it is” is sometimes a healthier response than over analyzing. some people accept the things they cannot change and move on to put their energies to better use. I picture the OP going on and on about a topic/issue that they either can’t or won’t change, round in circles, taking themselves quite seriously and the listener getting tired and shutting them down by saying,”it is what it is” because it’s kinder than saying, “would you shut the fuck up, bitch”.

  11. hahah i like it. like your bitch. its clever and cute and its true, people do think they are genius when they pepper that in at the end of a discussion, or, when they cant think of any other arguments to prove their point. i know, because i have done it myself haha. but i dont think its stupid all the time, there are times when it perfectly balances out the comments in a conversation made by some other long-winded, self-righteous prick. i know because i have also been that prick.lol.

  12. Yea, I’m assuming OP doesn’t really ever get what ‘it’ is, and “You think you’re so smart and look so smug….” is classically riding a jealousy undertone.
And although everyone is different, your opinions and the way you express them aren’t really that new, however they are indeed unique to you, but are certainly not worthy of any concerted effort to rebut; they are what they are.

  13. Think about it because it really is what it is tell me how it isn’t? If it was something else I am sure they would say it was something else. I say this many times usually while people are telling me their poor little sad story’s that make me want to scream and shake some sense into them… Nice to say than “fuck you really are stupid”…
