  1. That sounds like world record material to eat 3 apples in 30 seconds. i think that may be an exaggeration which leads me to think the decibel level explained might be an exaggeration also.

  2. Dear HOE, I also have witnessed eating behaviour along these lines from co-workers. I have grinned and bared it while chunks of apple have flown through the air and landed on me. I have witnessed banana eating by a person who bites off pieces too large to chew in her mouth so she stores it in her cheeks like a hamster, slowly chewing smaller pieces off until it is gone and then re-loading the cheek. Like a train wreck I look on with utter disgust unable to turn away. I have heard the smack smack of pastas and the slurp smack off soups in a coffee room so small there is no where for me to run and hide. I don’t think you have exaggerated, and I know where you are coming from. Some people have been failed by their parents, and set loose to eat with embarrassing behaviour. All you can do is be thankful that you eat properly, and teach your children to do the same.

  3. ya know, YOU could get up and close your door. Only YOU are in charge of what bothers you. If you don’t like it, don’t look. Myself, I do have great etiquette, and it makes me want to vomit when people smack their food, chew with their mouths open, or even eat with the fork in the wrong hand (bizzare, i know). However, it is so much easier to look away. There are way to many other important things to fret over than bad manners

  4. yes, this irritates me too. The smackers and let me throw this in, “Cover your mouths when you yawn for shit sake!” That is gross and I do not want to see if you have fillings or your tonsils removed. This is so unattractive, especially for a woman. This is really bothersome when it happens all the time on the bus.

  5. dear freaks, don’t ever go into a ramen shop in japan if you can’t stand human noises, slurping is not only acceptable but encouraged there

  6. Why do so many of the comments here seem to think it is acceptable to make loud, disgusting sounds when eating? It is a common courtesy to eat in a polite way. Not too long back, I was in the Dal library, and a couple of guys were sitting at a table near me; each had a one-litre of chocolate milk, which they would gulp down as loudly as possible, smack their lips at the end, go, “Ahhh”, andd then continue to say, “That’s goooood”, while gasping for breath. Anyone can chew or gulp as they wish, but you would think they would try and be polite.

  7. When, WHEN, are we planning to go to Japan?? Just b/c its acceptable in Japan does not mean it is acceptable here, hence Cultural differences! I personally am disgusted by people without the common decency to be able to eat politely. So many people are guilty of it…scraping teeth on forks, smacking, slurping…YUCK!! Get some freaking manners!!

  8. hey EW!Who the fuck are u to judge us on how we hold our fork? If you’re a fat american you eat with the fork in one hand, and if you’re an european/person you hold it with the other. Some call it continental and european

  9. OMG! I share your affliction. People that can’t eat properly drive me NUTS! I mean seriously, how hard is it to eat with your damn mouth shut? If you can’t close your mouth while you eat, than you’re obviously shoving too much tucker in your pie hole, so slow down and shut up. You’re nurishing yourself, not trying to quickly plug a leaking damn. Miss Manners I agree, the fork scrapping gots to go! Like show some etiquette I agree with the yawning and let me add the coughers that don’t cover their mouths, especially when you can see their tongue sticking out, what is wrong with people these days?

  10. dear ‘miss mannners’, perhaps YOU have not been/do not plan to go to japan but many people do everyday, they have airports and everything and there’s a big city named tokyo perhaps you’ve heard of it….. ‘hence Cultural differences!’, yes that’s what i was pointing out, (people on the other side of the planet eat loudly on purpose), this is not the 1850’s, see if you can muster up the strength to get over it
