Shut the fuck up with the “bye” shit. Even the capers are copying this stupid word. Capers trying to take on the image of being a newf. Fuck off. Your a Nova Scotian or a Newfoundlander. Its like me saying, “ha ha ha im an HRM’er, tickle me bum for a quarter bye”… Fuck off.

I don’t hate the people by any means, i just fucking cant stand the stupid traditonal images associated with people coming from those regions.—A pissed HRM’er bye

  1. Yes b’y! Sure we Newfoundlanders have always said b’y and aren’t about to stop because some Mainlander doesn’t like how we talk. Don’t like it? Sure, that’s your problem b’y! I just loves it when Mainlanders think they knows it all and tries to impose their values on we Newfies. Sure, we even have our own dictionary of Newfoundland English! The word b’y is included. Imagine that b’y!

  2. jeez by, what the hell is up your socks. someone give you a bad mackeral or something. lighten the fuck up, it’s going to be spring next year.

  3. Capers have said b’y as long as I can remember and I don’t think they’re trying to imitate newfoundlanders.

Fuck off, I don’t use the word but it’s my right to say what ever I like.

  4. This bitch annoys me. I’m going to assume you’re one of those Douchy McDouchersons who thinks that the clear individuality of different places within the Atlantic provinces makes us look “stupid” rather than making us awesome.
You also sound like you might be surrounded by Newfies and Capers, you lucky bastard. Enjoy it, at least we don’t take ourselves so seriously that we need weekly appointments to have the sticks removed from our arses.

  5. I’d much prefer it if all you Atlantic Canadians could sound more like you’re from Toronto.

    Thanks!

  6. sure sniffy.

Go jack off on a highrise while thinking of your mom fucking a leper.

takes you right back… doesn’t it?

  7. go to glace bay and talk that trash you whiney little bitch. capers have been sayin “bie” not “bye” for longer than your life span. maybe if you didn’t let such little things get to you you wouldn’t live such a pathetic life.

  8. Betcha you guys don’t know how Cape Breton was created – Newfoundlanders throwing rocks at seagulls.

  9. i think it’s awesome that we have little sayings like b’y. It’s a great way for getting to know other people at certain events, like meeting new people at a party and then finding out your from the same little island. Going out in public and hearing other people saying newfie phrases makes me smile. Plus there are some really great sayings for frustrating times. Ahem.. “LORDY TUNDERIN BY DA JAYSUS, ” JEEZ UMPIN DIANS, ” YOU TELL EM I’LL STUN EM, ” etc.. and of course, YES B’Y!!!!!

  10. My neighbours were from Twillingate and the wife was always saying “include me out” when asked to join in on anything – is that a Newf saying?

  11. Capers have been using it for generations also. It’s not as dumb as calling every guy ‘dude’.

  12. I knew that TTFN. I also know that Capers’ are the Newfies who forgot to let go of the rocks. Lol …..Just kidding everyone. Dont flame me.

  13. are you jealous OP because youve grown up in a place without any sense of individuality? just blended in with the rest of crowd and struggled your entire life to be like everyone else.

to rant on as you did about people who are unafraid to be themselves is idiotic. locales all over this province/country/globe have developed little dialects and accents and habits….part of life.

however, you are free to live your cookie cutter, frosted tips, axe gelled hairdo lifestyle all you want.

  14. It’s mostly a sin that these cultural characteristics are being replaced with a common, generic, bleak, globalized language we’ll all end up speaking as time goes on.

  15. fuck off by’…….. bitchin about some of the nicest people, not all i said some. i’m sure there’s a politician or something else more worthy to be bitchin about. Lord thunderin by”

  16. John, Take off that horrible avatar. You should be more patriotic and put a maple leaf there, a Blue one. lol

  17. I’m with you all !! Capers have been saying bie forever !!!

Oh wait i read the posters handle – fuckin mainlander . Look where that’s coming from .

And ZZZ Good advice to the fucking toronto douche. That is by the by what they do there anyways !!!

  18. Another big saying in Cape Breton is …”G’way!”…..short for “go away”. I love it! Everytime I hear it, it makes me giggle.

Actually, “G’way b’y!” is actually said quite often around here!

    Tee hee hee!

  19. im 25 and my mothers side of the family is from North Sydney Cape Breton and for as long as I can remember they all always said “bye”. I remember being a child and hearing it..

THis is news to me that its a newfie thing.
