Okay, so I got frustrated with Nova Scotia and not making enough money and, like a complete idiot, got a plane to British Columbia and man, do I hate it here. It’s true what they say: “You don’t know what you got till it’s gone,” and how true. The west is so snobbish and cold compared to good ol’ Nova Scotia. I’m thinking of making my way back. —Stay Where You Are. The Rest of Canada Are Assholes

  1. B.C.’s going to fall into the sea after the next big earthquake anyway. All those pretentious twat hipsters will be gone. All those 80 yr. old Pamela Anderson lookalikes will take their last teetering steps. All that kale screaming its leaves off.

  2. Time to roll up your yoga mat, peel off your head to toe lycra, and then go toss out that unused bunch of slowly rotting kale and those wilting haskap berries since you never got around to making those “detoxifying” smoothies anyway. A big juicy donair awaits you.

OP, calm down. Clearly, the most likely reason that you are having problems with new beginnings is: you brought yourself.

  4. @TTFB I prefer Irish import beer personally. My stepdad got me hooked on the stuff last time I visited him.

  5. Clearly the dislikes on my previous post are made by people who have never lived west of Edmunston. People ARE different (less friendly) outside of the East coast. We are famous for our East coast friendliness for a reason.

  6. East coasters are less friendlier than they like to pat themselves on the back for. Towards Asians they’re particularly rude and cold. And that is in Halifax, it gets worse in the rural areas.

  7. Why is everyone hating on Oceanchick today? Her sentiments match those of mine and others…

  8. I’m not particularly rude or cold to Asians Yangzee but if you’re a prick… it’s all context.

  9. Everyone has an opinion based on their own experiences.
You meet good and bad people anywhere you go, and the East Coast is no exception.
I had similar experiences living in Edmonton but mainly because Nova Scotians weren’t actually well liked there.

Another example is when you’re own province raises a billboard in a city to intentionally insult that city! Referring to the whale watching billboard in TO.

You can’t expect the locals to be friendly to you after something like that!

  10. A friend of mine is selling her small town Cape Breton abode – after 10 years there, she had enough of the petty/mean spiritedness of the locals. Had similar experiences with my rural relatives there who thrived on high drama & gossip. Good luck to the Yanks who plan to flee a Trump regime for life in Buttfuck, Cape Breton County.

  11. True, I have met many friendly east coasters in Alberta. It is the cry baby do nothings that stick around waiting for things to magically get better. Waiting for the ‘gubernment’to fix things.

  12. Maybe we’re the assholes and people you meet elsewhere on your travels are reacting to your bad behavior? If you can’t tell who the asshole in the room is its probably you.
