WHY must the trucks that are supposedly repairing the gaping holes in south park street insist on sitting there and idling ALL DAY LONG?! it’s one thing to wait in line with your dump truck full of whatever it is that you’re carrying but why is it so difficult to turn your engine off? you don’t move for hours on end yet you sit there with your engines running all day long. turn off your engine while you wait! between the pollution and the noise you make sitting there, i’d rather navigate a holey street than listen/breathe in exhaust for the next year!

probabaly running there machines and vehicles for the air conditioning…. just the same as they would run all hours in the winter for heat..

The reasons they sit there with the trucks running are: 1) yes for air conditioning in the summer, do you know how hot it gets in those trucks? 2) they could and do get called at any time and have to dump/leave etc. 3) for the most part starting the trucks, especially the older ones takes time and more fuel! Not sure if any of you have ever fueled up a dump truck, but if you did you know how much they take ($200 + at a time) and they will try to preserve as much as possible. They have a job to do, and unless any of you have actually done their jobs, don’t complain. And no walking up to them and fake coughing will not work, may make them laugh, but that’s about it.. they have enough to concentrate on like stupid people walking / pulling out in front of them, they are not going to worry about silly little whiners..

Actually some people do, however, it is very frustrating that these people complain constantly about the state of the roads and then when HARD WORKING people are trying to fix them they still ocmplain! I realize that most people look at these guys in their trucks and think hmmm, doesn’t he have a great job, just sitting there all day, don’t have to do anything physical? Well not the case, they have a very stressful job and then people like OP does nothing but complain that they are doing their jobs, come on get a life. Not everyone in the world can sit around and not work for a living like some of the people in South End Halifax where the bitching is coming from!
I think road crews and other occupations (like the police) should have a “Take An Asshole To Work Day” so these idiots can see what it’s really all about.
