From the time I turned 18 in 1980 I voted NDP provincially and federally, waiting with great anticipation for that different, decent kind of government that I could respect and support to finally be elected. Silly me. —Rube

“…waiting with great anticipation for that different, decent kind of government that I could respect and support…”
You’re looking for a new government, not a new party. There’s a difference. Changing a party won’t change the government, you need to change the system if you hope to get what you’re looking for. Otherwise we’re just perpetuating yesterdays problems and inefficiencies.
It’s just as well that St. Jack never got his hands on any real power. The trauma inflicted upon an entire generation of progressives when principles and ideology collide with actual responsibility would be more than most of you Children of Broadbent could handle. You’d be demanding grief counsellors and the latest Swedish therapy techniques – all on the public dime, of course. “And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household” Heh heh heh
dexter’s not ndp. jack was ndp. i am disgusted with what we have now
He WAS a Saint. But, I have to agree with you Ivan. It’s one thing to have great ideologies, but it’s a totally different game when trying to put them into practice. Especially when trying to maintain political and economic stability.
I believe it worked out better having Jack as the official opposition, with a more stable and practiced party in the leadership (whether or not I agree with the conservatives)
listen o.p., i’ll say this just once. dexter has been a disappointment to me too. and i’m a staunch ndp’er. but wait a second, he did really inherit a bunch of bullshit from the previous crook gubments of the last 100 plus years. and also hey, could you do a better job, if you said yes, then get your name on a fucking ballot, fast.
we, who are schmucks, used to just keep electing the same old, tired parties, over and over. then when the ndp got elected finally, who do you spose started screaming bloody murder the loudest, of course, the conservitives.look back at history in n.s., how much good have they ever done, look at the liberals, same story. savage even gave himself and friends a nice big raise after they were only in office like what, a couple days?
yep o.p., until something better, more honest comes along, we have to pick the lesser of evils. such is voting in this country and provinces. you never know how they’ll be, til they get in power. but remember this, we do elect them, well those that bother to vote do. maybe more should voice their right to elect, than elect to do nothing.
i agree with cap, about having jack as the opposition with a conscience. but even he couldn’t counter what harper does. so with a liberal govt. or conservative under anyone except harper.
Harper and his cronies are all the same…
Down with conservatives altogether.
Down with the government altogether, if you ask me.
a benevolent anarchy?
i think most people really need leaders. people just mill around aimlessly. lead, follow or get out of the way. anything except that damn milling around. someone once called me ‘bossy’ (go figure) because at each intersection i stated which way we should cross. (was in a group walking down commercial drive to the pub – maybe 6 blocks) so i shut up and stepped back a pace. and what happened? they all got to the next intersection and milled around through several light changes. a big lump of undecided humanity blocking the sidewalk.
a stroll is a stroll, but there has to be someone willing to point your feet, if not yourself.
I shall selflessly lead the charge!
better you than me, i am sure. i would just kill 90% of them right off the bat.
You probabally made better money here back in 1980 too.
Doesn’t matter who’s running things. As long as big business and corporations are allowed to funnel money into political campaigns, they will always be the governments number one concern. The system is now so corrupt, I don’t believe it matters who’s in power, the outcome will always be the same.
You walk the walk Molly!
I think I’m a closet anarchist. I don’t trust anybody in charge. Benevolent arnarchy. I like the sound of that Molly. I smell a new political party in the making.
weeeeeeeeeeeeelllll i suppose it could be called benevolent. i will live out in the woods, well armed, and with lots of dogs. off the power grid and with diffusers so no one can track me down by the woodsmoke. but i need a death ray, so i can vaporize all the naughty people (it’s ok, leave that up to me to decide – that’s the benevolent part) and everyone else can mill around in an anarchistic fashion.
by the way, i have to have netflix, has to be one of the perks for being supreme leader of the void. saw great spooker movie tonight. called ‘let me in’. very different.
wouldn’t mind a weekly delivery of pizza hut pepperoni lovers with extra cheese too please. that should pave the way for an early demise and a shot at the position for the ambitious.
last night we decided i’m a pagan-druid. no tithing, no guilt, sign up here

how’d you know? that’s the hat, perhaps i’m just a witch after all http://media-cache-ec2.pinterest.com/uploa…
Benevolent anarchy, you say? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1227926/
*Cackle*
gdm, i saw the original swedish version of that movie, “let the right one in”. i found it kinda sad
OB, it only took you 30 years to figure it out, others still don’t see it. Just wait for your next provincial income tax increase. These idiots are wondering why the tax revenue is down. It’s simple. When you have the highest taxes and no employment opportunities, people leave. When you have lower, reasonable rates, then businesses will come, people will get employed and you get a larger pool to get your tax revenue from.
To be somewhat more serious for a moment, once again The Onion absolutely nails it: http://www.theonion.com/articles/fuck-ever…
The Federal Conservatives under Mr. Harper, with a majority I might add, are righting a lot of the wrongs NDP and Liberal weenies have fucked up over the years. The latest bills making the Chiefs show how much they make and the Union Dictators open the books are a prime example. Selective immigration is another gem, no more “bring me your sick, lame and lazy” like St. Jack and Cretin wanted to boost their voting block. What would make my day for CHRISTMAS (not fucking HOLIDAY) would be the televised deportation of several high profile terrorists, all in shackles and chains.
Hay Bazzer – did you hear the latest idiocy from Britanniastan. Seems the national Multi-culti
organization has decreed that advent calendars have to be altered so as not to offend “certain groups”.
Now, every door you open has at least 3 families of Saudi immigrants living behind it.>: )
*Disclaimer – this is an untrue fact*
why was i not informed of this? http://toysnbricks.com/wp-content/uploads/…
John BS …Union Books have ALWAYS BEEN OPEN for members at any Union meeting -Period- I should know I am a member of 2 Unions & I have seen our books , requested information & it has always been granted.
The Cons, are simply attempting to Union Bust by putting a massively complex reporting package under the new rules . BUT Did you notice they exempted their own Political Parties from opening their books. They exempted Doctor’s as well as Engineers & Lawyers !
Why is it required that SOME private organizations AKA Unions have to report , but these other nonprofit groups do not John BS ?
One answer dude -Union Busting-
SECONDLY the other reason I’m posting is the first year of the NDP’s mandate over SIX HUNDRED & TWENTY FIVE MILLION Nova Scotia taxpayer dollars was used ……. TO SERVICE OUR PROVINCIAL DEBT !!!!
A debt given to us by THE CONSERVATIVE & LIBERAL GOVERNMENTS OF NOVA SCOTIA.
The second year of the NDP’s majority …$625,000,000.00 more spent to the CONSERVATIVE & LIBERAL DEBTS !
Again in year 3
And again next year ….
THat’s going to be 2 BILLION PLUS dollars of our tax money going to the Bankster buddies of the Conservatives & the Liberals to service our DEBT just since the NDP has been in power , & yet I never see anyone who HATES & RANTS & RAGES AGAINST THE NDP EVER , NOT FUCKING EVER, MENTIONING THAT.
FUNNY HOW YOU GUY’S can Blame the NDP For Everything Under the Sun ….BUT You Fail To Mention That Little Fucking FACT OF LIFE !
SO go fuck yourselves, you can fool yourselves all you want … some of us know the truth & I’d rather see money spent attempting to put people to work & buy back our forests , than give it to a bunch of fucking banksters !
When people run in politics it is usually because they see something lacking in their community. But once they get elected, it becomes all about staying in office and then it all goes to shit.
Ships start here. Should have been rephrased “Ships start When?”
Ivan – there is a glimmer of hope back in blighty. My cousin works in an office that is multi-racial and the usual angst about the Holiday vs Christmas debate was being discussed in a Management Meeting, up jumps a female from the Religion of Land Mines/Beheadings/Acid in the Face and says she thinks it should be as it used to be, namely CHRISTMAS. The only dissenter was someone with a permanent tan who wanted Kwanza – which, children, as well we all know,is a real fake holiday made up by someone at Hallmark.
