I am a life-long NDP supporter. I was elated when the NDP got in. After a few months of this ridiculous NDP government I will never vote NDP again and will cancel my party membership.—NDP is dead in NS

  1. The Finance Minister’s photo is on my fucking dart board. Yep, I was a life-long dumbass New Dipstickarsepick and I, too, have sworn to never, never, never vote for those crooked orange pricks again. I’m starting my own party and calling it the ‘The Fucking Fed Up With Living In A Loser Province Because Of Its Retarded Politicans Party’. My mandate will be to pay the MLA in coconuts and paddle them with a giant Sockeye Salmon if they get out of line in the House of Assembly. And all expense accounts will be supervised by seven monkeys with IQs over 75. Oh, I forgot, that’s the old system.

  2. it is so sad I must say I WAS an NDP supporter too but not anymore….wow super disappointed with them overall they no longer have my vote

  3. It’s a lot easier to oppose the government than it is to BE the government. The NDP should stick to what they are good at. Ok…”better” at.

  4. I’ve been a life long NDP hater, not because of their economic policies, which have been proven around the world as unworkable, but because of their holier than thou persona they exude.

However, I was actually happy when the NDP were elected, because I knew this would represent the one and only time in my life that we had an NDP government.

  5. I canceled my membership in 1997….guess what…they started sending me outdue bills for membership fees for 10 years! Fool me once NDP, but never again. I’ll vote for that discarded, wet Tim Horton’s cup before I vote or support you again.

  6. Of course we’re fickle. Until a government figures out how to eliminate taxes while simultaneously expanding services, they will all just be a bunch of crooks and idiots.

I think people who complain about the government should run for office. So many good ideas floating around amongst that group. They should also coach the Leafs…I’m sure they have their problems solved too.

  7. Ah, I still support them. Like any new govt, they couldn’t find their ass with both hands at the start. I’ll give ’em their mandate and see what they’ve done when the next election rolls around. They’re in a tough spot, elected into a recession, and economic collapse and expected to pull a rose out of a bucket of shit. They all complain that it was the previous govt that fucked things up, but at some point, someone is going to have to fix this shit up. With the spending scandal, they better nut up and put in some fucking rules for the rest of their mandate, cause people are justifiably irate about it. As long as the DO something. I don’t like the tax increase, but what were the alternatives? Cut what, health, education? I’ll wait and see, but I can’t see a better alternative right now. We seem to forget how bad Rodney was already, or the Lieberals before them. They have ~3 years to get shit on track.

  8. paingirl, bob rae was a liberal shill. he was placed there as a tool to be used for the main purpose in having the ndp look bad. where is he now, in the liberal camp, where he was all along. if you want a government to look bad, you throw a ringer in and hope for the worst. if that case, it was all planned by the liberals ahead of time. that’s why there was very little fight for the libs., and he got in fairly easily. now the feds, are about to do the same thing again. but when they do, look the hell out. think things are bad now, when then government changes for the worst, and it will this eletction. you will think communist russia was a fucking picnic. just look at some of the shit they are doing now, and multiply that a 1,000 times.

  9. oh, and let’s not forget the fact, that previous governments in this province have done a very good at cooking and hiding the finance books for over a 100 years.the libs and cons, knew what was in them, and they don’t share.you or i starting a new job, would be the same. you go in, know how things should be done, then find out they are done completely different. so you try to get the system on track, and make it work. takes a lot of fine tuning sometimes, to get something running smoothly, and n.s., is deffinately never been running smoothly. not when you get 2 groups of liars and cheats going back and forth, for a century plus.think about it, could you do a better job, no, then shut the fuck up, and stop being part of the problem.

  10. I love the street interviews where old Muscovites say how nostalgic they are for the good old old days. “When Comrade Stalin was in charge, there was order, there was bread, the whole world trembled at our might” So on & so on always ending up with bons mots like …”and the Jews knew their place”
Canadian democracy may suck, but at least we always get the government we deserve.

  11. I’m not an NDP supporter.
But do any of you think we would have heard a word about MLA expense Bullshit, if any other Party was there ?
We never heard S.F.A. when the Libs or Cons were in office & I’m willing to bet that if one of them had won, it would be same old, same old.
The NDP inherited the mess we’re in & IMO they added to it, with the University monies paid out last year. Plus they didn’t cut themselves out when they announced that little tax perk for people in their tax bracket, that’s just fucking wrong & there doesn’t seem to be one person in the Party who has figured that out & is willing to make a motion excluding all Government employees or electees from the list.

I actually agree with their stance on the Cat Ferry, but I was hoping between the Fed’s & the Province, they would put a REAL ferry in there, one that would fit Tractor trailers & Tour Buses as well as light cars & trucks. Let it benefit the farming, fishing & Tourism industry(s) not just tourism . But so far nothing & the summers coming fast !

But I’m still willing to see what they do during their time in power. I never expected much from them, but really, I didn’t expect much out of any of the Parties, except to have my pocket picked once again as they enrich themselves, which in my life time is all any of them have actually ever really done.

  12. Well More the NDP had nothing to do with the audit that caught ALL THESE THIEVING BASTARDS. The audit was well underway into MLA spending. The Auditor General was NOT invited to do the audit. It happened to be on his list of things to do.

As for not knowing what was in the books? That is the oldest line in political history. Remember it was a minority government and many things money was spent on were things the NDP wanted, such as pharmacare.

  13. More, why should they exclude themselves from tax perks or whatever? They pay taxes too. And if they make more money than you do, then they pay more of their salary then you do as well.

  14. actually if I wasn’t an incorporated person, I would be in the boat they’re in. But when you are suppose to be GOVERNING !
And you come up with a new tax scheme that increases taxes for many…but give a tax break for you who are the authors of the tax increase, giving yourself & the rest of your cronies a tax break is for me anyway, a bit hard to swallow.
You don’t find it just possibly more than a coincidence that, All the MLA’s fall in the catagory that gets the tax break ?

I figured a way to cut my taxes years ago. A legal way, & a way that many people just can’t access because of their choices on what they do.
Anyone who waits around for the Governement…no matter who they are…to do something for you have got to be in line for one of the biggest fool of the year awards. While there are problems being self employed, & also having an outside job (but I can pick & choose when & if I work 🙂 there are 2 many pluses to count & tax breaks for small business etc are pretty sweet, not to mention what you can write off before you even have to calculate taxes. Like mortagages, rents ,GAS ! ! ! INSURANCE ! ! ! clothes, equipment (many you wouldn’t believe the toy’s that qualify as ‘equipment’ .)
But for the poor average dumbfuc…I mean working Nova Scotian, like my kids , you probably, my girlfriend & all the other wage earners…it’s hard & getting harder.
Unless your one of those who will receive more on your ‘assistance checks’…but I won’t go there, its too painful to think of all the abuse & laziness that system has going on everyday.

  15. LS if Bob Rae was a Liberal shill ad became the leader of another (NDP) party, what does it tell you about the intelligence about that (NDP) party.

  16. when bob rae took power in ontario with the ndp he pissed everyone off…but he inherited the same shit as any other party would have, tho he had to answer to the unions

  17. More, keep in mind that it is the government who comes up with the tax laws that allow you to find ways to legally reduce your tax burden.

And I don’t think you answered my question of WHY they should specifically be exempt. Perhaps they shouldn’t create the tax break at all, but if you think the tax break is a good idea why should the government not be included in it. As I said, they pay taxes too and contribute to their salaries as well.

  18. Yep. You idiots voted for them inspite of everyone who had half a brain telling you what they were going to do. Dexter and STEAL lied to your faces and told you they would not raise taxes. They told you they would open every ER in the province, all without raising a single tax. And you morons bought it. Unfortunately you took those of us with a clue down with you.

  19. Good thing the NDP is the only party that lies during an election campaign. I’ll remember that when it comes time to vote again.

  20. all i can think of is carol kane yelling “LIAR LIAR”…your fault with your pb reference
