I am really disappointed to hear about DDDD’s clothes getting thrown stolen from charity. I’ve been living in Tokyo for a year and a half and periodically check the Coast to see what’s new. DDDD’s story is so typical of our inconsiderate, delinquent population. It pisses me off that in tiny little Halifax cab drivers get ripped off, bikes, wallets etc. get stolen, and private/public property gets vandalised on a regular basis. What the hell is wrong with us? In Tokyo, I never lock my bike and I don’t worry that it’ll be gone when I get back. I’ve left money in my bike basket (as an experiment of people’s honesty) and found it where I left it hours before, I’ve repeatedly seen people find cellphones, jewelry etc that have been lost and then turn them in or put them in a visible place should the owner return. NOBODY EVEN THINKS OF KEEPING WHAT’S NOT THEIRS! It’s an amazing feat in a city with a population almost equal to that of Canada. I just wish we could adopt the same mindset back home.
