Why do I have to suffer for the sins of rich corrupt bastards that lived over a hundred of years ago?

I don’t even know those guys. I don’t have any of their money or wealth. I am piss poor. So why am I punished?

Raised by a feminist (practical non-militant type). Taught tolerance and love. What does life give me? Hate and discrimination.

I cannot be held accountable for what some total stranger did 100 years ago. So he happened to be the same colour and gender as I. So what?

Yet throughout life, I am made to pay for slavery and sexism.

Now I am a slave with no rights or freedoms. This is not “Backlash”. (rolls eyes) It is common fucking human decency.

If I were King everybody would work. Everybody. —ReincarnatedMicMacShamanInAWhiteMansBody

  1. I agree with the OP. Why should I, just because I am white, have to suffer because of what the Europeans did when they ‘discovered’ North America. I would love to not have to pay taxes, get free post-secondary education, and go fishing whenever I damn well please. It’s 2010, time to update the books. How long do we have to keep paying for past mistakes?

  2. agreed!
Everyone should work. They do in most impoverished countries around the world.
Why do we pay people to be bums in this country?

  3. What’s that NGF? If we were used to years of sitting on our asses and still getting government checks? Maybe you’re right, but it doesn’t make it right.

  4. I agree with this Bitch, mostly…

Seriously, why should I have to keep feeling sorry for what my ancestors and forefathers may or may not have done to your ancestors and foremothers? They’re all dead anyway!

And how come some minorities do better than others? Asians also faced a lot of discrimination and were practically used as slaves to build the railroads in North America, not to mention internment camps for Japanese during World War II, but now they’re some of the most successful people in North America with a higher than average income, and you rarely hear Asians complaining about these past wrongs.

  5. q..it’s because they have to work to better themselves. Natives are handed everything to them. Why would you bother work?

  6. “Natives are handed everything to them.”

Back that up with fact please. You sound like every other white person who thinks they’re a genuine minority and uses it as an excuse to compensate for your inability to accomplish anything.

Nobody handed me my degrees, home, vehicles or “rights”. It’s so easy to cry and complain while making others a scapegoat. I have Aboriginal friends who are lawyers, teachers, accountants and solid tradespeople. Nobody handed them anything and it takes hard work to accomplish something.

Quit crying and making excuses. Last time I checked your skin colour was not a disability.

  7. “Nobody handed me my degrees, home, vehicles or “rights”.” And that’s why you don’t have any of those things. Well your “rights” but you didn’t fight for them, douche.

  8. …and while he’s at it, Dr. Watson can vacate your shit canal. Alimentary, my dear Doctor. ^^^

  9. And how do you think the housing gets built? Theres lots of Aboriginal carpenters and trades people. Why outsource when you can hire your own? A lot who live in Ab-communities are also employed by the band as well, indicating people who work.

THAT is a fact. Go visit Membertou or the community in Montreal that has about 10,000 Metis, Mohawk, Mi’Kmaq and Abenaki. Lots of big business there. Another fact.

You talk as if Aboriginals are this massive population that you have to babysit when they really account for only about 4% of the population. The fact is there’s a much higher percentage of whites on welfare getting monthly compensation and living off the system than there are Tontos but you don’t obviously acknowledge that.

  10. Yeah, stroll onto an IDN reserve, good idea, enjoy your stab wounds.
I agree that natives aren’t handed everything, but you can’t honestly believe that we’re equal…

  11. With the stigma that I notice getting attached to the Aboriginal people from some of your comments it’s hard to believe they live this bright water colour painted, easy life, where everything gets handed to them.

  12. FYI: not all aboriginals live tax free. Unless they’re working for an aboriginal owned organization, they do, indeed, pay income taxes.

And they also pay HST when they shop off reserve.

And not everyone is automatically granted education funding. It’s up to their band to decide whether or not they are going to fund them. I have a friend who’s husband had to drop out of school because mid way through his program, his band decided to cut his funding.

So, while I will admit that it CAN be pretty sweet deal to be aboriginal these days (if you can reap all the benefits — I know I’d kill to have no student loans…), there are some major misconceptions on how the process works. I’m surprised NGF didn’t point this out already.

  13. It’s easy to bitch about it online. Chances are nobody here would dare get into an Aboriginal’s face and talk shit to them. So my experiences as an observer have taught me.

Everyone can talk a big game based on heresay ‘facts’ but if asked to go say it to the people themselves it’s a different story. It’s like people who hate pro wrestling that won’t dare say it to a pro wrestler because the wrasslers are all roided out and will take a roid rage on the person.

    Excuses.

I’m looking at my most recent pay stub and there’s income tax taking off. I also recieved a whopping $40 back this year from the government for my tax return. I bring cigars.

  14. Okay, so you don’t feel personally responsible for what your race has done to these people. Still, can you not understand our moral obligation to try to reach out to people who have been so oppressed in the past.

These people didn’t have any chance to get ahead.
If your great grandfather wanted to they had the CHANCE to go to school, to earn a decent living and to provide for their children.

If you, as a white person in Canada, are poor you only have your relatives to blame for not working hard enough to get a good education or trade.

People who are starting at a disadvantage deserve the chance to get ahead and I would be willing to help them even if it WASN’T “us” who created the extreme setback and torture.

UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I could seriously go on forever.

  15. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.. but as a side note I also think more social programs should be set in motion.

BUT AGGGHH I wish I knew who the OP was so I could sit them down for a few hours.

  16. ‘bitchinlocal’, how do you explain all the successful Asians who don’t get any special treatment and whose grandparents also faced racism and discrimination? They don’t seem to whine about white people like a lot of other minority groups do. The worst they do nowadays is drive around pimped out Civics with crappy spoilers.

Seriously though, how long does this have to last? How long am I supposed to feel guilty for what my great great great grandfather may have done to someone else’s great great great grandparents? Lots of different races have done lots of horrible things to lots of different races over the centuries, not just white people to people of colour. Natives were even killing and enslaving other Natives long before any white man ever set foot on Canadian soil. We’re never going to move on towards more equality for anyone with these different rules for different groups of people.

  17. I’ve had aboriginal partners and they couldn’t wait to get off the reserve and bitched about the lazy asses on them. I have been on a number of reserves, some industrial/prosperous and a lot that were for a lack of a better term “shitholes”. It is the people on them that will make or break them. They want better, they can make it happen. There are schools, if they want to learn. They can stay away from the firewater (aboriginals and orientals, sorry Asians, are more susceptible to alcohol), drugs, etc (just like our kids should). The opportunities are there if they want to take advantage of it.

  18. But as to apologize for what someone else as done, especially years and years ago, sorry not happening. I will apololize for things I have done but not for anyone else. Tey can do it themselves.

  19. Depends on the reserve you go to, BT. I’ve heard there are nice/rich ones out there.

Also: I talk shit to NGF all the time. And he just tells me to go eat a burger. *shrug*

  20. We are not paying for the mistakes of our ancestors, we are paying for mistakes or our politicians of today too gutless to take a stand and say no. The problem being, it is ” politically incorect ” to say no to anyone claiming minority status. Politics and payoffs have nothing to do with what is right, bottom line is its all about appearances and votes. So I suggest you keep your chequebook handy and keep asking how much.

  21. “White guilt” is a lame old filly that needs to be put down in the infield. My ancestors were freed from serfdom by Czar Alexander II about 8 years before Lincoln played the Emancipation Proclamation card to prevent Britain from getting further involved with the Confederate States of America. Fortunately they came to this country about 10 years before Ulyanov, Bronshtein & Djugashvili reinvented the concept and put their own unique genocidal spin on it.
My successes and my failures are entirely my own. All I ask anymore is that if the federal government is going to pick my pocket in the name of social justice , they should refrain from spitting in my face at the same time.
That’s not too much to ask, is it?

  22. Tell me about it Marty. I was offered a chance to buy Microsoft at 50 cents a share but I stuck with a “balanced” portfolio of Amalgamated Smallpox Blankets & Slaveholding and United Zeppelin Inc.
    D’OH!
(that’s what they all say; they all so D’oh)

  23. actually sad thing is I’ve lost 1000’s on small caps and even was part owner of a thoroughbred (paid 8 grand sold 12 hundred canon bone probs. didn’t even run once) you name a vice and this cat has had it in spades 🙂

  24. “White Guilt” is the biggest crock of shit ever.

I don’t feel bad for being born the way I was born. Those who think I should feel guilty about being born white can suck my theoretical dick.

  25. Hey Marty – your new pic reminds me of the Sopranos ep. where Pie-O-My had colic and Tony stayed the night at the stable, while Dino crooned “My Pony, My Rifle and Me” over the end credits.
Ralphie didn’t die hard enough for what he did- Grrrrrr.

  26. I kinda wish I were white. That way I’d have an appreciation for restaurants that spell out the price of a dish instead of using the numerals.

  27. The reference to prices spelled with numbers was something I read from the website that had “101 Things White People Love” or something like that. I thought it was amusing.

PS: I’m one of these people who allegedly have everything handed to them.

  28. We all know how natives, especially on reserves with unclean drinking water, have the highest standard of living in Canada!

  29. I was in Winnepeg this summer on a job.
While having a brew one night after work, a local who I;’veworked with here as well as elsewhere was commenting on how it would be a good idea to take a cab back to my hotel.
When I asked why, he commented on the native population in the area & there had been some muggings/knifing lately.
This brought the conversation around to the fact that although only about 13% of the population is native, they make up 70% of the inmates in the Provinces Prisons !

That blew me away….& seemed like a pretty large overstatement, so when I came home & I started looking on the net, the numbers were backed up by articles , and Government stats ! ! !

  30. just because something someone says offends you, is no excuse to cencore them and silence them.

  31. you need to the let the misguided spew. freedom of speech is the slippiest slope …not to be confused with the deep sea slope. blub blub
