Glad you liked the poem—Auden was well before his time in terms of his social consciousness. The poem is not really about looking before you leap, but the opposite. That is to say that the leap must happen, regardless. The leap may be a painful but necessary detour, or it may be an inroad that leads to ecstasy, but it must happen. You cannot unknow or unfeel something, unless you want to succumb to being a simple conveyor of convention (boring!)—transcending convention is so much more fun and challenging…still, somehow, I think you maybe kinda got that. Hope your future leaps bring you infinite joy, love and wisdom. Good luck! —A Fellow Passenger

If you like poems, there’s one about slurpees on the bitch side.
that tripe passes for poetry?
I suppose you revel at the fantastic, lyrical wizardry of kanye west or justin beiber too…
http://www.ssgmusic.com/wp-content/uploads…
tripe really is disgusting, no matter how you prepare it
with pigs trotters, haggis, and glands they call delicacies,
not surprisingly, it’s a uk article…

I’ve had tripe in Vietnamese Pho – nothing special. Stick with the rare beef. A big bowl of that when you’ve got the sniffles and you’ll be right as rain.
In uni one of my buds had a bunch of us from Middle Bay over to his Grandparent’s place for a big feed of Lunenburg style pig’s knuckles and kraut. You never saw so many hungover reprobates scarfing down mass quantites of food while minding their P’s & Q’s.
GP: “More homemade blueberry wine, Lads”
Us: “Yes Please, Sir”
Yes I did get it…I’m still waiting for the leap that will bring me to ecstasy.Hell I think I deserve joy, love and wisdom.
Maybe not in that order.Lol.
what makes you think you ‘deserve’ it, exactly?
you decide what gives you joy, you decide whom to love, you decide how much you learn
therefor if you do not have these things… it is your fault either in impossibly set expectations or lack of trying to attain what YOU consider the bare minimum in these categories.
if you ‘deserve’ it so much… get off your ass and go get it for yourself…
or just lower your standards so that what you have already achieves this.
Fire-Your right, what and whom I deserve in my life is up to me. I’m getting help to change my fucked up thoughts about myself…I refuse to ‘lower my standards’ because there has to be more(someone better, out there) out of life than what’s been dealt to me.
I really don’t want those people that treated me badly to have anymore space in my head, than what they stole.
I could be way off base here, but … Wordsworth?
I agree to an extent with zed. I think what he’s missing here is the fact that you can’t just DECIDE to love someone and have them love you back. And unrequited love certainly doesn’t bring joy.
And, lowering your standards doesn’t always bring joy, either.
You can give all the love you want, but that doesn’t guarantee you’ll get any back andddd that’s kinda shitty.
Some people are just unlovable.
So I used incorrect grammar and puncuation…Sometimes, what is said is more important than how it’s said.
Ozzy … if you’re thinking that my post was a dig on your skill as a writer … it wasn’t. Wordsworth was a reference to a sign-off used on previous board post; and, while I may be wrong, I commented because my gut is telling me the person who wrote the Wordsworth post is your Fellow Passenger.
As for your predicament … I’ve been in a similar position and I agree that you should make the leap. If you don’t, you’ll be doing nothing more than existing a passenger in your own life … if fate has not yet intervened, take control of what you can and tell him how you feel. Otherwise this man that has captured your heart will forever be nothing more than a haunting memory and you will always question if there could have been something more.
Bite Me-I apologise.I’m glad I didn’t tell you to bite me.Lol…thanks for the advise.
Persevere…I have a pretty dry sense of humour, especially when I’m eating crow.
No worries doll … and no need to eat crow … never know, it could make you sick. Wishing you all the best in life and love. 🙂
I made the leap but landed flat on my face…SPLAT.
Leason learned.
if at first you don’t succeed…
..that should be ‘lesson’ learned.Terrible memory.
I better quit before I’m in a corner with a dunce cap and straight jacket on.
Sorry to hear Ozzy … chin up … tomorrow is another day.
