Why is it that when a bus has no seats available, people insist on crowding at the front of the bus instead of moving to the back to make more room for people that have yet to get on. It’s not like they put those “Move to rear, use rear door” signs up in the bus windows for no damn reason! Be courteous to the people that still have yet to get on, and be nice to the drivers so that they dont have to keep asking people to haul their lazy asses to the back of the bus so people can actually get on.

I know I hate this myself. The only thing I can think of is they don’t want to fall over with some maniac drivers who start moving again almost as soon as you get past the yellow line. One of these days I won’t catch a railing in time. Until then I’ll stay at the front until the next stop, and move if no one else is blocking the way.
A few weeks ago I got on a bus and had to climb over a teenage girl who was standing at the front of the bus. It was one of those small buses with the big shelf things right at the front. And she had a big bag, so she was literally blocking the entrance. And she Would Not Move. There were all kinds of seats available. So after watching people climb over her for several minutes, I spoke up and asked her why she insisted on blocking the entrance like that. She got mouthy at me, so I got mouthy back, and the bus driver told ME to settle down. My suggestion that maybe it was the DRIVER’S job to prevent people from blocking the front door was ignored, and the kid continued to stand there for the rest of the trip. I think most people are like that kid: they stand there because that’s where it’s convenient for them to stand, and everybody else can go to hell.
Bus drivers used to tell people to move to the rear, to stop blocking the exits, stuff like that. Occasionally you still hear one brave driver trying it. Mostly they’re too scared, I think. That, or they’re too lazy to do their jobs.
