All the people who went to the show, saw all the other amazing acts, danced, had a great time, and then went and claimed their refund afterwards. If you were truly coming to the show only to see Mos Def, when you heard he wasn’t there, you should have got your refund and gone right home. But to party until the end of the show, and THEN get a refund (and then complain about the long lineup on top of it all)? Way to support the artists and one of our best local music festivals, you cheap-ass pieces of shit. Some “music lovers” you are. —Hypnotic Brass Ensemble alone definitely worth $35

In my experience the venue would have had a cash out time. Refunds only by nine, or something along those lines. Chances are the no-show artist would have to cover the costs of the returns. Thats usually specified in the contract with a penalty.

Just spoke with a friend who worked the Jazzfest this year. Interestingly enough the tickets were $42 at the door, or $37 for Jazzfest members, don’t know where the $35 figure came from. The Jazzfest also extensively advertised Mos Def’s appearance. Unfortunately for them Mos Def no longer exists. He is now known as Yasiin Bey for his new direction in the world of music.
Sidenote: The man in question has had numerous issues with his passport over the past couple years and was actually denied entry into the US earlier this year even though he is a US citizen. That prompted him to cancel his US tour. The spokesperson for Jazzfest only said “he didn’t leave the plane” in reference to his cancellation.
He was photographed at Paris Fashion Week the same night. He is wack.
Mos Def is not a gangster rapper, fyi Basil. He’s an extremely successful and critically acclaimed musician and actor.
